Poe Dameron and Kyle Katarn w/ Jan Ors

By Terminator37, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I've been playing around with this list, and I was wondering what other people thought about it.

Poe Dameron: Predator.

Kyle Katarn: Veteran instincts, TLT, Jan Ors, Moldy Crow, and Hull Upgrade.

Jake Farrell: PTL, and Proton Rockets.

Poe would do a focus action, Jan Ors turns it into an evade, and then Kyle gives poe a focus token. On the turn that Jake would use Proton Rockets, he would do an evade and a target lock. Kyle would then give Jake a focus token.

I've been playing for around a year now, and have (finally) started getting into some serious squad building. So feedback would be nice...

Ditch the hull upgrade on the HWK and give Poe R5-P9 to regrow shields.

Traditionally Poe wants VI to ace hunt, r5-p9 to regen shields and if you got the points autothrusters. with Jan, comms relay wouldnt hurt either.

Kyle doesnt need vi, or the hull upgrade. tlt is great, but if you need the points dorsal or autoblaster will still serve you well.

Jake loves ptl, and prockets. Also autothrusters, title and something else (crackshot, adaptability?)

In this build I would seriously reccomend trying out red ace instead of poe:
Red Ace, r2-d2, autothrusters (or IA), and comms relay. This will provide the best synergy with jan ors crew.

R5-P9 is almost not worth it when its so hard to come buy if you don't buy a rebel transport... Sorry this list sound super fun and then I looked up R5-P9 on ebay and its 22 dollars...

You arnt getting the transport for the transport.

You're getting it for R5P9, R3A2 (stressbot), Wes Janson (Uboat counter, ace counter), Tarn Mison (Why needs an R7 glued to him)

If you get any use of the transport itself, all the better.

Yes, the Transport is a great expansion with lots of awesome cards. It also comes with an attractive GR-75 paperweight. :D

If you really don't want the Transport (and it can be fun in Epic), you can always sell it on eBay to recoup some of the costs. You can usually sell it for about $30 with the associated cards if you just want to keep the X-wing and associated upgrades.

Nowhere in the post did the OP say that he had card restrictions. I just tried to create better efficiency in his squad. Furthermore, I recommend that he swap poe for red ace anyway.

Those are all good points. I'm just getting into X-Wing and as different builds start to click for me I start to figure out how to get those cards and the $$$ stack fast. So basicly the Rebel Transport is worth it for the upgrades is my take away.

Poe + R5-P9, Biggs + R4-D6 are classic combinations. Wes + R3-A2 is pretty good too as a control piece.

For a while I was on a kick where I flew a lot of Poe-Jake-Kyle with Jan on the Moldy Crow and juke on everybody...

Anyways, try to squeeze in Comm Relay for Poe so that Jan can give him the evade when he needs it without losing the evade chance on Kyle. If there's just one turn where they both use their evades then the Relay has equaled the usefulness of the one extra Hull. :)

As for Jake when Paired with Kyle I like VI/Adapt with Juke/Predator so that he's unstressed when you pass over a focus which lets him boost/roll in the combat phase. Alternatively, you could save PTL to push off the combat phase boost/roll, but not pushing at the normal time alerts your opponent to your intentions and their higher PS dodgers will react accordingly :(
