Red Dice Hell! Competition list

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

So this list is named in honor of Dras's undying love of red dice.

This may be like many lists you have already seen or will see but the goal of this list is Navigate commands over everything else. WIth Leia on the board, I can use her to pass on Squadron commands to Yavaris as needed for maximum flexibility. This allows me to save Nav tokens to let Madine do his work so that I can dodge arc and get the best possible line ups to the shot for next turn. The list is like Muhammad Aliâs fighting style.

This list is at 399 and can handle either first or second player equally since there is not much of a bid. Each choice affects gameplay slightly, though the list is not meant to be a speed demon at 3, it can do that when needed to jump out of arcs but that is not always the intent. The list works best at playing it a bit slower and working your way up to jump out of the way.

To ultimately make up for the lack of squadrons, I have decided to use the Nebulon Escort for Salvation though the traditional build is the Support Frigate. This allows me to support my squadrons more which will help me make up for any disparities in the squadron conflict.

Squadrons are straightforward but strong with the use of Luke to punch through shields, Nym to hit the shields and strip tokens, and Keyan to push as much damage as he can through. Squadrons want to entice the opponent and while you may not get a lot out of Flight Coordination Team until the squadron war is won, you have the firepower in the rest of your ships to make up for the loss of the three heavy hitters. If there are not many enemy squadrons to deal with, you can use the three as beaters and strip key ships from the opponent.

Adar Tallon was a choice for an officer slot to set up triple taps from any of the three squadrons but I felt that with the threat of Slicer Tools and the need to get a few rerolls for my blue dice and Nym that Leia and Toryn Farr are better over all choices for the same points.

Raise the thermostat as high as you care to. :D

I would probably try and add Toryn Farr and some Skilled First Officers, that way you at least get to re-roll the red and put alternating Concentrate Fire and Navigate Commands.

@Ly: My brain processed that as a "competition list" not "THE Competition list", hence for me the throw down was  making a list that was so luck based I would probably end up scratching my eyes out to end the pain.

As an open question (perhaps more relevant to Dras's fleet) do you feel that Spinal Armanents is worth the points increase over Slaved turrets on a Support Neb B? Probably it's more worth it on an Escort for AS.

I have always had a preference with things that have the word Increase in them over Add. The reason is because Add abilities occur after the initial roll and do not change your Armaments total amount of dice for Fire Lanes.

So, for me, Spinal is better because it assists in chaos theory for dice rolls and it makes it easier to pick an opponents fire lanes.

Wouldn't 7 TRC90s with Ackbar be throwing more dice and have a more consistent damage overall?

Probably, but as stated, it wouldn't conform to FFG's Competition Critera.

Wouldn't 7 TRC90s with Ackbar be throwing more dice and have a more consistent damage overall?

Sure, 7 TRC90's could do that, but that has been done and is no fun. I run Dodonna the Oppressor as my MSU list so I need a bit of a break.

It also helps that there are a total of 11 red dice out the front coming from 3 ships. That is easier to keep on Fire Lanes than 7 ships who need to be moving to survive.
