So...that is all screwed up.....says my app is trying to often ....then eventually says can't process credit card....which is bs. I guess I will keep trying.

Wouldn't take my card and now it says the app is throttling. WTF?
30 calls...I am guessing they got more than that lol.
By default, if your app executes more than 30 API calls over 10 seconds, your app will be throttled, and you should retry the call later.
Based on the payment system's behavior, I'm thinking FFG did not contact them to increase their limit. It's going to be a while for anyone to register unless FFG devs are contacting the company now. 
Edit: And the more people hit submit to try to force their payment through, the more the system throttles.

They will reopen it when the issue is resolved. Some people were able to slip through the cracks and get registered.

Same here, I was able to get through about the time they said they paused it.
And flight and hotel booked. 460 return from Halifax...not too bad!
yeah I tried and tried and tried ... but after they had closed it, instead of letting me complete my registration it just kicked me back to the page where you enter your name/email address saying I had an error in one of the fields (tho not marking any field as having a problem)
Pretty sad day.
I haven't seen the registration site open back up.

I'd like to be optimistic, but as someone that in theory had a more than valid session going to sign up and not actually have it work, the odds are looking pretty bad.
There's been a bit of analysis of the docs of their payment system they use (the technical docs are all online), short of a rewrite I'm not sure there's much reason that tomorrow or Thursday will be error free at all.
