Yeah, yeah, we see one of these every few weeks. Still, the thought popped into my head, and it seemed like it was worth a shot...
Alex Davy has said that he wished the Heavy Scyk upgrade had provided an extra hitpoint when equipped, to bring Scyks into their intended value. He's not wrong, but that still leaves the naked Scyk chassis overpriced. You could release a second upgrade to fix that , but there are only so many cards in an upgrade pack and I'd kind of like to see more toys in the pack (Or possibly even a 3-pack of Scyk Fix cards per Scum Aces pack [or whatever it's called]), so it really wants to fix both Heavy Scyks and their baseline brethren. And A-wings are priced at 15 points, so we need to be very careful about having too many HP too cheaply...
So how about this?
Scyk Fix Title Here
Title. M3-A Interceptor Only. Limited.
When you are dealt a face-down damage card, you may discard this card to discard that damage card.
You may equip up to two Title upgrades.
(0 points.)
... So why should we care? Because it gives the Scyk their extra hitpoint, but it's not quite an extra hitpoint: Unlike the crit-proofing of an X-wing's Integrated Astromech, this card is the exact opposite in terms of vulnerability: a Scyk still explodes messily to a Critical hit, which (for anyone who has actually flown one of the wee buggers) is practically a signature weakness of the craft. Of course, you still have that shield hitpoint before the vulnerability kicks in, and this card still mostly ends up averaging out to extra health (especially against TLT, Ion, Autoblasters and similar) while leaving you as vulnerable as ever to critical blows, which means you're not quite as fast or tough as an A-wing... which justifies the 'one point cheaper' difference.
It's also not quite the same text as any other card out there yet, and leaves the mod slot open for Guidance Chips (because we should at least maintain the polite fantasy that ordinance is worthwhile, right?).
Whatcha think?
