One of our local game stores is running a mixed-faction tournament.

Strange Allies X-Wing Tournament (or How I Learned to Stop Worrying about Faction Restrictions and Love Pew Pews)

This is a special event in which builds will ignore ALL faction limitations and restrictions. Any ship can be flown with any other ship, and any crew can be flown with any other crew (so on and so forth).

Highlights:

- No faction restrictions on ships or upgrade cards

- Astromechs and Salvaged Astromechs are interchangeable

- 150 Point Builds

- Normal round times

So what would you run?

A few of the ideas we came up with are:

- Crackswarm with Howlrunner, Siressu, and Biggs

- Miranda with Vader crew

- Oicunn with Zeb crew

- "Blue Ace" with Unhinged Astromech

- Dengar with R2 Astromech

I also considered Whisper with Lando crew, but that doesn't seem as good now that the new FAQ is out.

Still, I wonder why anyone WOULDN'T take the Emperor in some sort of ship? Even a generic HWK could take him....or a B-wing with title.

Attani Mindlink with some combination of Jake/Tycho/Palob/ would be entertaining. Probably not Super-Broken-OMG-OP, but entertaining nonetheless

heh...my 24pt greensquad awings swapping Juke for Ruthless...thats just funny sounding. Suddenly the annoying thorn becomes a rather ruthless threat...badum tssh.

i should propose this to my locals. Theres some crew shenanigans i REALLY wish i had on imps and vice versa.

Such as Rear Admiral Chiraneau with Fleet Officer, Mara Jade (because she demands being on that ship regardless of pilot), and Erza Bridger. Two focus per attack into crits lol. He wouldnt ever need a focus token, since odds are with 3/4 dice you'd either have a blank or a normal hit for the other 1/2. Fleet Officer dumps focus on juking TIEs that took Evades

Ezra Bridger crew on Bossk would be quite mean, as well. Just make sure to PTL or Interface Gonk each turn.

I'm going to this. Here's what I came up with so far. Might change but I doubt it.

Saw the bits and pieces elsewhere. Everyone gets extra red dice until the shuttle blows up. If I can keep it from getting shot at I assume 10 firing rounds of the mini Crack Swarm getting extra dice. Jan's pile of focus from Yorr baffling her stress should be hilarious.

We played a casual game like this just last night. Everyone had to have at least one ship from each faction and you could intermingle crew. 125 points each

My buddy flew Chewie with Lando and Greedo. He had Whisper and Talonbane.

My son flew IG-88's paired with Jonus and an A-Wing.

Versus

My partner: Dash, Zuckuss, Tomax Bren & Horton

I flew Dace, Torkil, Countess Ryad, and Miranda.

Such a different feel and an absolute blast to play.

We ran out of time, and people had to leave to get home and get sleep, so the way we finished was roll an attack die for each remaining ship. On a critical hit, it's destroyed. We kept doing this until one team was left standing. We were all laughing at such a fun way to settle the 'draw', as it were. Proud to say Dace Bonearm was the last remaining ship on the board.

Sorry for not updating this sooner. This was a great event and a nice break from standard tournaments. We had a total of five people show up for this event, plus our TO, who played to avoid any byes. We played three rounds of 75 minutes each. The overall winner received a copy of Star Wars: Rebellion.

I finished in 3rd Place with a record of 2-1. In the first round, I played our TO, Michael, and won 150-81. Oicunn died quickly and Dengar easily avoided all of Emon's bombs. I played against Tyler in the second round. I was able to kill Biggs and hurt Ryad, but wasn't able to accomplish much else before time ran out. I lost 28-94. In the third round against Bryce, I managed to win 150-86 despite losing Dengar fairly early in the match. I was excited when Blue Ace got to finally pull off the "Green Tallon Roll, then Hard 1 Boost" combo that I had been wanting to use all day. That was the whole reason I brought the ship!
