So it's fun season for "competitive" x-wing now that regionals in my area are finished and I figure there is no better time to try some new (to me) mechanics out in play. I was skeptical of mindlink at first but the idea of it has grown on me, here's what I am going to give a shot:
Herd mentality:
Manaroo (34)
-mindlink
-feedback array
-unhinged astromech
-k4 security droid
Palob Goldahli (33)
-mindlink
-cloaking device
-twin-laser turret
-greedo
-moldy crow
Talonbane cobra (33)
-engine upgrade
-mindlink
Manaroo makes this "archetype" possible in my opinion. Having her to feed extra actions to where they are most needed seems really powerful. She won't put out massive damage, but she will make large amounts possible. She can block and do most of her work still so feedback array seems like an auto-include. Mindlink is of course a necessity. K4 gives his target lock away without me having to use my action for it, and unhinged makes it even easier to get the free locks to pass out.
I like the interaction of greedo with a tlt, feels alot like vader crew from my home faction. I think stealth device isn't a requirement but it gives the otherwise ponderous hawk a movement trick, and makes it a tedious target (sometimes). Moldy crow feels like it needs to be here, I would hate to waste my opponents focus tokens, they worked hard for me to have them. Tlt is just the obvious turret option, I could blaster turret but why?
Talonbane is the defacto hammer. I will try my hardest to keep him around till it would be best for him to clean up. He can use engine upgrade to position so that manaroo can hand him a fully modified shot (hopefully at range one with those 5 juicy dice). Even still he will have focus to aid his defense, so glitterstim would be redundant here. I think guri could possibly do better here but I don't have a starviper (gave all my autothruster-less copies to my buddy who mains Scum).
What improvements could be made here? I'm sure at this point several of you are gurus in the art of the mindlink and I would love to hear from you. Thanks in advance.
