I have been playing a fun list that I am considering taking to a tournament. It is Poe Dameron with Juke, R5-P9, Comm Relay, Autothrusters. Kyle Katarn with Draw Their Fire, Jan Ors, TLT, Moldy Crow. Biggs Darklighter with R4-D6, Integrated Astromech. I fly Biggs and Kyle close to each other straight up the middle and fly Poe from the outside, slanting in. At first I fly slowly so that Poe can get his evade dice, and Kyle can collect all some focus tokens. What are your thoughts on this build? Ho would you fly it? Are there any changes to the build to make it better? What builds would this list struggle to fly against? Is this build competitive against current meta?
Synergy Poe, Biggs, Kyle
I like the list against almost everything that isn't the current meta. It will struggle against crackswarms(what doesn't?), Palp Aces, and double JM5K lists. Poe with CR and Juke can do some damage(but it's expensive for PS8), once Kyle is gone, it might be hard to keep the evade if you haven't taken a lot off the board.
I would avoid flying Poe separately against Aces, as they can concentrate on him right away and ignore Biggs, but against lower pilot skill ships it would be fine if you an flank.
I run a similar list with Poe, Red Ace and Kyle with TLT and Jan Ors crew and it works very well.
Your list looks good but I have some thoughts. Juke makes Poe very dependent on Jan to refill his Comms relay as he does not have a natural Evade action. That in turn makes him very dependent on staying near the HWK as he will need Kyle to top up his Focus pool. If your opponent takes out the HWK, Poe really suffers. Granted you have Biggs nearby to take some shots but he really needs some love from Jan too as an Evade will help to keep him alive.
A list with good synergy works well together but it is still capable of performing if it loses a ship. Your ships look too dependent on one another.
Here is the list I run:
35 Poe Dameron (31), VI (1), R5-P9 (3), IA (0)
36 Red Ace (29), Comms Relay (3), R2-D2 (4), IA (0)
29 Kyle Katarn (21), Jan Ors (2), TLT (6)
100 Total
Poe is now PS10 which is very helpful if you run into Soontir or Whisper. Red Ace uses Jan Ors to charge up her Comms relay on turn 1 but afterwards can keep it filled herself due to her special ability. Kyle does not get the Mouldy Crow title due to points restrictions but quite frankly, this build spends the Focus tokens quickly and I rarely have any left at the end of the turn.
