Oh, sorry? Didn't realise you were ordering from the USA! In that case, we know the exchange rate is pants right now so we'll only charge you $500 for the exact same kit.
Why did it take so long for this FAQ?

So if I get some Pounds and bring one to an exchange office, I get pants?
Seems like a good deal...
^ but if the rules issues are caught by the forum before the product is released (likes many months before) why can't there be a FAQ ready to go when that product is released?
I think part of what hes saying is we dont know how many issues they find and fix that we never hear about, compared to the occasional couple that slip through
The answer to why they (FFG) didn't catch stuff that the members here did is a simple one. We have more evil minded people than they do. Look at the NOPE Button from some years back.
There's an old say that nothing is idiot proof given a sufficiently determined idiot. We've been able to confirm that statement.
Calm down, it's only a game.
They will probably have playtested and checked over the contents of this FAQ to ensure it didn't completely break anything in the game.
As for Gonk, hyperbole much?
As for this "Gunboat" nonsense... See my first sentence.
Calm down? But NERD RAGE!!!!!! Must have nerd rage!
NERDDDDD RAAAAAAAAAGE!!!!!!!!!!
Nerd rage? Just a little? Please?
gunboat?
Ok.... *sniffle* I'll go now.

YUP... the same goes for TLT stuff. If anything cool can be turned into something rude it will become Very Rude. This is why I got out of GW games years ago. Now that X-Wing is super popular the same crowd have migrated to the game we love.
Now it is rude here way more so than it was just a year ago.
Kinda funny...
Never understood the reasoning of these "shame on company X for my Y problem with your Z product that i buy regardless of what you do anyway" posts.

Not everyone is a devout fanatic. Even on this forum, the hardcore underground, there are people who drop the game and sell their collections, bringing an end to the habit of 'buying Z product regardless of what is done'.
Quality assurance should never be offhandedly dismissed, else a large portion of the player base will do the same.
Indeed. Take Age of Sigmar, for example.
No please, take it. Take it far away, and never bring it back.
GW would have released a wicked Gunboat model
They would probably have kept the "XG1 Assault Gunboat" name as well.
And armed it with Assault Cannons and Assault Missiles, and given you the Hyperspace Assault bonus if you fielded the Assault Formation which came as an an exclusive extra with the £60 "Assault Gunboat" supplement.
Awesome! Can I preorder 4?
Has GW already copied EA, Ubisoft and Activision and introduced exclusive preorder boni? Wouldn't suprise me.

Yes if you buy from GW they give you data slates with better rules.
For example £50 got you assault marines that could assault straight after deep striking in.
GW would have released a wicked Gunboat model
Yeah, ridiculously huge overcosted Gunboat with a set of completely ugly and useless wargear options for MOAR PLASTIC
on a round base
it came out after all the open games were over so they were all played on a level playing field and they could really see the meta at work
(spits breakfast out) -did someone say gunboat?
(spits gunboat out) - did someone say BREAKFAST?!
Did somebody say BACON!?!

After two pages and its 'what FAQ? LOL!'
Might be a record.
I am hungry fo some bacons and stuff tho.

A lot of players don't stop and think about what goes into game design. Look at the number of designers and playtesters add in the upgrade cards and deadlines. Compare that to the number of players that can theorycraft at their leisure. Who do you think will find the odd OP combination?
The number of players that "want it now and it's got to be perfect" is a vocal minority. The rest of us realise that, even though the game mechanics are simple, the game in its entirety is very complex. As the game expands the possible combinations increases astronomically. There's sure to be an OP combo that slips through past the designs and playtesters. Go ahead and complain about that OP build but don't get on your soapbox and point your finger at FFG for "effing up the game".
Why, oh why did it take so long for a proper FAQ ruling on the secondary weapons that perform two 'attacks' as a single attack? Why didn't they just define 'attack' as the total event that declares a target and that may result in a 'hit' or 'miss'. We've had this problem since Clusters were a thing, many many waves ago. At least it's 'fixed' now. I don't see it as a nerf on the 'synergies' that were allowed to illegally exist before, but it does make me sad that Blaster Turret Kavil with R4 isn't a good combo anymore.
Anyway, why did it take so long? Sure, waiting several waves to fix the Advanced is acceptable, because that's one ship and it wouldn't break the game, and incrementally fixing other ships and ordnance is acceptable since balance needs to be maintained. But why let a couple of secondary weapons lead to so much confusion for so long? I know it wasn't Phantom Cloaking broken but still...why the wait?
And GONK it all to GONK, don't let some stupid email be the only ruling for official tournaments for periods of a year or more! GONKITTY GONK GONK!
GUNBOAT!
Because none of the problems that this FAQ fixed were actually problems, and all it did was punish combinations that didn't need to be nerfed while leaving Palp Aces untouched.
The Tactician and TLT/Cluster Missiles combo did not need to be fixed. The Cluster Missile and FCS combo did not need fixing either, now Redline is even worse. The change makes no sense and defies what is printed on the cards. Tactician and FCS are triggered after an attack. CM/TLT are 2 attacks, so you should give out 2 stress and get TL's both times.
The ability to spend 2 evade tokens on one attack did not need to be fixed. Laetin or Lando crew on Ghosts was not broken.
U-Boats did not need a nerf, it was Palp Aces that did. It didn't even nerf much, I was already using Overclocked to save on points. But Blaster Turret is dead forever now. What an OP card, thank god it was prevented from taking over.
It fixed nothing. It was not needed. That's why it took so long.

That was so cold I felt the burn from way over here!
I still love you Blaster Turret.
I mean, Goomba.
Why are you still acting as if this FAQ was an effort to nerf any specefic thing in the name of balance?
Every indication from it says that wasn't the case. The fact that nothing was singled out, that all the nerfs or buffs are the result of a general rule change, and that there is no reason for multiple things that ended up getting worse as a result of the changes to have been up for that treatment; should clearly indicate this FAQ was not an effort to alter the balance of the game.
It was about getting the rules and plethora of abilities in the game all on the same page so that the game can move forward. It was about properly differentiating between similar but different abilities and making sure there was consistency in how abilities were being treated that had the same resolution.
Or do you really think they set out to nerf Redline specifically by changing rules that effect many other ship, pilots, and upgrades in the process?

And as long as they stick to this new timing religiously and don't design things without thinking through how they actually want it to work, then the game will be better in the long run.
