Crew and What to Do with Them?

By Eyegor, in X-Wing

Has anyone done a good write up comparing, contrasting, and ranking crew choices? While I understand that this can be list dependent; there are also some cards that see use a lot and others that never hit the table. As I start to plan my next purchases this valuable slot has become more interesting to me. Any advice the forum has on using (or when not to use) the crew slot would be a big help. Thanks again.

It's completely situational. Depends on your squad, your play style, the cirrent meta etc

What ships are you running? Most crew only have one or two seats they like to fill, so it's kind of determined by your current squad makeup.

Very much this!

Kanan is a great crew choice if you need a way to shift stress. That means he pairs very well cards that give bonuses in return for stress such as Push the Limit. But Tycho does not care about Stress so there is not much need to include Kanan if your only stress-prone ship is PTL-Tycho.

Interesting thread, I have some of all the rebel ships except for the E wing, K wing (unobtainable) and Corvette. I've never actually played the Falcon, YT2400 or Ghost as I'm not too sure what to do with them. I have to CR75, but only bought it to get the rest of the T65 pilots and the 2 droids.

I've been trying to fly 3 T65's, but loaded down with upgrades, I forget who's got what and when to use it. I need a lot more practice for sure.

I've been creamed by a Falcon/B wing sqn, and a Scum sqn with a HWK, so I now have a rebel HWK.. Local group now has games every friday and Sundays fortnightly, so may get some practice, but what to use?

Can you setup your 3 T70's to all be the same ship with the same upgrades? great way to learn and gain experience. That way you only need to remember one combo. Even if you can proxy it helps a lot.

Similarly, Vader crew: Great on a Decimator, TERRIBLE on a Phantom.

There are definitely tiers of crew around (particularly, Flight Instructor I don't think I've ever seen anyopne even contemplate bothering with) but it's impossible to say that any one of them is of a particular rating, because they're so list dependent.

I think the one thing almost everyone can agree on is that Palpatine is great. :)

All the rest does really depend on things. And Palpatine isn't essential, just generally worth it if you have crew slots and points to use him.

Go-to-list

Palpatine

Dengar

C3PO

Kanan

Vader

K4-security

Gunner

Tactician(now greatly diminished)

Zuckuss+Lom (Ah teh BUUURNS!)

What to do with crew? Throw them out the airlock with Jerjerod.

Don't forget Boba Fett on your list of go-to crew. Spare point, not sure what do do with it? Don't want to stress or ionise yourself? Running Scum? Boba.
