I'm flying out to Geilenkirchen for work, and staying in some random town in the Netherlands. I'm going July 17-30. If all goes well, I shouldn't have to work the weekend, and I will have a car, so if there's anything going on 7/23-24, let me know!

Hi,
There is actually a regional tournament in Eindhoven (south of Netherlands, close to Belgiumgermany border). The date is 24th of July. It is sold out, but I am sure they can make an exception for someone with your status
Edited by MankitHey, as a GK "worker", i can tell you that "Nothing After Two O'clock" tends to have a geek night about once a quarter on base.
A few of us play x wing/armada
Otherwise the closest store that has tables/sells x wing is in maastricht, about 40 mins away.
I'm currently tdy.
Here's the FB group for the nerd group

also this place has actual x wing tournements
except i keep missing them.
It'd be good to have an illustrious x winger (if you're who i think) around
Hi Paul,
Check your PM for info on the regionals in Eindhoven.

I second this. There is a reserve player list that will probably open up for a few more people. I would love to play against you!
On the 17th of July there is a Regionals in Hoorn, at the shop "De Zaagtand" as well. That's just north of Amsterdam
Hoorn of course being nowhere near the border.
.
World's Qualifier in Eindhoven! You heard it here first!

It's a 2 hour drive from the border, which is very close by by American standards, since the Netherlands is a pretty small country.

2, 3 hours, depending on where you start, and sure he has better things to do with his time than driving across a country, especially as it isn't the most exciting of drives.
.
If driving is no concern, I'd direct him to Leiden or Den Haag where there is a rather lively group if I recall correctly.
Or by Netherlandish standards, America is way oversized as a country, and should be broken up in smaller components, and make several separate countries, lol. (just as Russia and China should be..)
As far as I know, there are no official X-Wing tournaments on the German side of the border on that weekend. However, there are active communities in both Aachen (which is a beautiful city and always worth a visit anyway) and Mönchengladbach, who would be happy to organize a friendly tournament on Saturday or Sunday.
Maybe the guys from RWTH Aachen University would be willing to show off their implementation of the game on a oversized touchscreen tabletop (you still use the actual models, but they have found a way to make the screen recognize the bases so you get perfect firing arc and manouvre position calculations).
Send me a PM if you're interested, and I get things started.
sorry I'm further down south .... If you are in The Karlsruhe area we are always up for a game

Thanks everyone! I'm looking into going to the Eindhoven regionals, since I'd only be working Sunday if something truly awful is going on with the work I'm doing, and it's less than 90 minutes away from where I'm staying.
Hey Paul. I am living close to Geilenkirchen and could pick you up on Saturday for am match or 2 :-)
