Vader triggers in step 8, then Gunner triggers in step 9, which eventually brings you back to step 8 to trigger Vader again? Right? Some people are saying this doesn't work anymore.

Gunner is a separate attack, so it will allow Vader to trigger again. Vader has been nerfed a little by attacks that say “perform this attack twice” (like TLT and Cluster Missiles), which only allow "after attack" abilities after their second attack.

Vader+Gunner did catch a bit of a nerf in this FAQ, but it's one that I think makes sense.

Before the recent FAQ update, a ship with 1 or 2 hull remaining that missed and used Vader would take two more damage from Vader, trigger Gunner for a second attack, trigger Vader again (putting the ship at either 2 or 3 more damage cards than they have hull), and then finally be removed from play.

Now Vader can only be used if there is at least 1 hull point remain on the ship that has him equipped.

That shows just how often I play (or play against) Vader. I just assumed they added the restriction to Vader at the same time as they added it to Feeback Array. The Vader red text in this bit of the FAQ was just adding the word only.

It is odd considering that a ship's hull points never change during the game. The accumulation of damage cards exceeding the hull value will cause a ship to be destroyed but at no point is the actual hull points reduced EXCEPT if Boba Fett were to remove a Hull Upgrade.
