Make sure I understand some of the new FAQ

By Ccwebb, in X-Wing Rules Questions

After reading the new FAQ, I have just a few follow questions. I want to make sure I am reading this correctly:

Gonk- Can now use BOTH its abilities in one turn. (If capable... ie: PTL)

Ghost/Phantom with TLT - TLT can now roll 4 sets of dice on one turn? First the normal attack (2 sets of rolls) then the extra attack at the end of the turn (2 sets of rolls)

On a side note... Gunners effect with second attack weapons finally appears correct (TLT and Cluster Missiles). Both sets of rolls must miss for Gunner to go into effect.

All of that looks correct except for the PTL and Gonk bit. PTL cannot be used for an action that is not on the action bar. You would need Experiment Interface to be able to double Gonk.

Cool! Thank you

How are you getting the ghost to preform two primary attacks?

He's using TLT, not primary.

I don't understand this. FFG changed the rules so that TLT can be both a primary attack and a secondary attack for the Ghost, but no other ship? Why?

They didn't. The title says the ghost can make primary attacks from its special arc. It separately says that it can make a turret attack at the end of combat. There's nothing making the latter conditional on the former.

As thespaceinvader said, there is nothing on the card that forces a connection between the two statements. But there is the requirement of having the phantom docked to get the extra attack at the end of combat so if you don't use the phantom or have chosen to let it fly you no longer get the extra attack so it is limited to a certain condition in the game that is not automatic or permanent at least.

So a phantom docked ghost can shoot a secondary weapon first, and then at the end of the combat make a second attack with an equipped turret. It could shoot torpedoes and than turret.

He can shoot with whatever he want during his combat phase. The two are not related. He could not shoot during combat and still shoot at the end.

The card only say that if the Phantom is docked, the Ghost can shoot with a turret weapon at end of combat.

Correct.

Nope. A Phantom docked to a Ghost can't do anything but deploy. The turret that gets used for the end of the combat phase attack is the one equipped to the Ghost, not to the Phantom.

A Ghost with a Phantom docked can either make a primary weapon attack out of either its primary arc or it's special arc, fire a torpedo out of either arc, or make an attack with its turret as its normal attack. At the end of the combat phase it may then make an attack with its turret.

A Ghost without a Phantom docked can either make a primary weapon attack out of its primary arc, fire a torpedo out of either arc, or make an attack with its turret as its normal attack. It gets no attack at the end of the combat phase.

EDIT: Totally misread that. I thought you were asking if a "Phantom docked to a Ghost" could do those things.
