Intelligence Agent, how to use?

By exinfris, in X-Wing

Van someone explain when and how Intelligence Agent is used.

It says at the start of activation, so does that mean both sides set dials and you can reveal one prior to activation? Or, does your opponent set theirs then you get to look at one before you set your own?

Please explain, I'm curious how this card works and what kind of build it would be useful on.

After all dials are set and placed, you can ask to reveal one of your opponent's dials.

This provides a significant advantage if you have ships with Barrel Rolls or Boost that can block or adjust firing arc angles.

Don't say "reveal"...

Its useful for builds/ships who can reposition themselves after using the IA. Cloak, Barrel Roll, Boost ships are candidates.

Six Sigma loves them. Too bad the list never really takes off. Maybe after the SPA buff oh wait that didn't really buff 6 Sigma.

Also really useful with ships that can alter their maneuver after you've set it. Hera, navigator, stay on target... Plus a couple others I don't remember.

Basically means that if you have the right tools you can react to a higher ps pilot that you wouldn't ordinarily be able to.

I find it fairly useful for ships with low to mid pilot skill but that have boost or barrel roll. It's really nice on Hera as she can actually change her maneuver. Where it really shines in my experience are when you are using low pilot skill ships to block, particularly large base ships like the VCX. It does require you to be pretty close already though to use it. Even in situations where you can't take advantage of any repositioning moves, it may help you decide which actions to take based on where an enemy ship is going.

So I was thinking of using IA on these.

2X OGP + mangler cannon, electronic baffles, engine upgrade, systems officer, intelligence agent.

1X OGP + mangler cannon, electronic baffles, engine upgrade, fleet officer, intelligence agent.

Would IA work on these guys with the upgrades I'm giving them?

It would let you know where to boost, potentially, to get blocks or pre-dodge arcs, but it's not going to be all that useful in most cases.

Equip on any phantom, then use Intelligence Agent before you decloak. Dial in a 1 hard turn on Echo, then deckoak whichever way keeps the enemy in arc!

I use it with Echo pretty exclusively. Perhaps not the most efficient crew slot use, but with PalpAces and whatnot, it often times helps me to shift around my tactics to get me out of arc while still maintaining a shot. It's not bad for one point.
