Spinal Armament+Star Cruiser= no reason to really use the Battle Cruiser?

For 2 more points than the cost of a battle cruiser you can get a star cruiser with spinal armament, which is the same as a battle cruiser with an extra blue in front and rear (minus a black antisquad, and you'd have to occupy one of the turbo laser slots). Given this, would you ever really want to use a battle cruiser? I guess you could slap a spinal armament on the BC but then we're looking at a crazy point investment. Thoughts?

Its the opportunity cost of losing that second Turbolaser Slot (which is unique thusfar) and the reduction in Anti-squadron (Black-Black on something that might have Gunnery Teams and always facing forward is surprisingly good at that) - that balances it out somewhat.

Don't forget the opportunity loss of having any other modifications.

Oh yeah, forgot the gunnery teams...I've gotten too used to the original MC80!

I think the simple fact that the Star Cruiser + Spinal is more expensive is a good reason to take the Battle Cruiser.

Also, you can always take Battle Cruiser+SA.

Battle cruiser has better synergy with gunnery teams because you can put more red dice out to long range, thus threatening more ships, and the 2 anti squadron dice means it can clear away squadrons while it does it.

But Im still a big fan of the star cruiser. I always prefer blue dice.

It really all comes down to your ion cannon upgrade and how many blue dice you really want. SW7s have a higher pay-out if there are 4 dice instead of 3, whereas on the Battle Cruiser I think leading shots is way more attractive.

The liberty is all about being a high custimization offence platform. If you want to turn it into a poor man's ISD for rebels then good for you. I am currently looking at a crit play carrier build. Others have spoke of Mon Karren + OP build as powerful setup attack for a fleet. You just need ask yourself the purpose of the liberty in your list and other questions along those line.

Mon Karren + OP...having a brain fart, what's OP stand for?
