Marauder1983, the "List" does not matter. A single unit is not your list. You need far more than a single unit to create a list. From that point you build your concept. So no contradiction. A chess piece is as important as you make it.

How about no RNG? Seriously.

Nobody likes RNG, nobody wants to repair for random values.

You should just track the damage. Either all damage, or shields respawn. I personally like all damage. Its just easier.

Just have 3 lists, play 3 lists. Day two, combine them into the 500 or 600 point game.

Agreed. I think adding dice rolls is overcomplicating things. Or maybe keep track of the damage from rounds 1-3, and then assume full repairs in round 4.

I also think that you should have to fight with each of the three fleets at least once. No double dipping. Maybe call rounds 1-3 concurrent in battle time. Three simultaneous fleet engagements, then the fleet combines at a rendezvous point for the final push.

I'd almost rather do the other fleet engagements as different sizes to start with, but that's adding a lot of complexity (unless you were doing this in a league format over weeks). 200, 300, 400 points, and then at the end all surviving ships come together. Would really force people to determine if the risks are worth it.

Of course, that opens up really unpleasant round four games where one person played cautiously and has almost a full fleet, but other people played recklessly or lost horribly and have like two corvettes left. Meh. I think it would be better as a league format where you can replenish ships but not unique titles, squadrons or officers.

You could just have ships roll red dice, for he very hit they repair a facedown damage and every crit a faceup
