Caught in the unfortunate crossfire of the FAQ, no longer shall you vomit out cluster missile volleys in the way you used to.

I get why the change had to be made but I am still mad as hell.

So what do I run instead of cluster missiles on redline? Or is deathrain the only good punisher pilot left?

What do you mean? Yes, you've only got one TL to use to modify the dice between the two shots, but you've still got Guidance Chips!

Yeah practically guaranteeing 6 hits is pretty strong but when its split into 3 for defense its easily dodged. Except against agi1/0 ships ive never had clusters do any true damage.

Yeah

We know at least it'll have some green straights (even the freaking Y has two of them) and access to tie/mk2

Remember you're not looking at another soontir here. QuickDraw is a suicidal limited use glass cannon that farts out hilarious amounts of damage

Aka redline, only higher PS less situational and FAR cheaper

it's actually generally only two missiles and four attack rolls :P

guess if you want clusters, you gotta go to scum. You can have some fun with Yvs (stims, dengar; misthunter crew for mitigation) or n'dru (LW + stims + 8 dice total from ability)

but yes, we have redline for re-rolalble proton torps (which is more than the JM5ks can say now that r4 aggro doesn't work with deadeye :P )! but it's just eh...

TL dependency on a PS 7 (below palp aces) with a 2-dice non-turret priamry and a limited dial; no defense token/dice mitigation (ala 4-lom crew or even crackshot)

CM was perhaps redline's biggest draw as he was uniquely capable of self-sufficiently enabling it, but even then the poor guy is just morbidly overpriced

The art and mechanics all indicate a massive volley of missiles and that is what I want to imagine.

IT'S THE PRINCIPLE OF THE MATTER.

N'dru is fun but it is just not the same :(

Redline really wants to use fire control system.

Fire control system only activates after the second volley of a cluster missile attack. So redline can no longer have a target lock on both attacks.

Fire Control System only works at the end of a two-attack secondary weapon now (like Clusters or TLT).

I would say that this doesn't kill Redline in general (he's still good), however it does kill any Punisher/Cluster Missile/FCS combo.Personally I enjoyed that combo, but I'm willing to pay that price to nerf triple UBoats.

I see. I have FCS but never used it in combination with a 2 attack weapon.

re-rolls are kind of a big deal

granted, it's more useless because the way it worked before wasn't that great to begin with given how much it costed and now it got WORSE , but yeah sure it's useless because it only gets one set of re-rolls

Ok, so if perform this attack twice is now considered a single attack, wouldn't a single target lock give you re rolls on both volleys/shots?

No because you spend the target lock to modify dice in the first attack, but can't gain a new one from fire control system until after both cluster attacks are finished.

Poor redline, I just used him last night! :(
