Lando's Gambit

By Lord Vapor, in Imperial Assault Rules Questions

Hi folks,

Ok, I've read his ability a dozen times, but I still can't figure it out.

Please help me understand his ability.

Gambit: Before you reroll a die, you may replace it with another die of the same type. After rolling, the new die is considered rerolled.

Thanks

Dice type = attack or defense.

Example:
Lando attacks with green/yellow attack dice. Decides to reroll the yellow, but replaces it with a red die.

Lando gets attacked and rolls black defense. Decides to reroll, but rolls a white instead.

OMG, "type" refers to attack or defense!

I see says the blind man.

Thank you for clearing that up.

I haven't seen the cards, so this may be redundant, but the way that's written, does there need to be some other ability that is granting the re-roll? so Lando alone can't re-roll anything, but if anything does grant him that power (say armour, for defence dice) then he can change which colour dice he rolls?

Lando has Resourceful , which allows him to reroll one of his dice while defending or attacking.

Also, the definition for Dice Type are both in his figure expansion sheet and in the Besbin Gambit rule/campaign book.

Wow, that's very powerful then if he can both re-roll an attack dice and a defence dice, and he can swap dice colours. Go Lando!

Yes. He auto rolls a black dice for defense. But let's say no matter what you roll, the max 3 block isn't going to save him. You might as well roll it, then reroll it but with a white dice, in hopes of an X-men.

Same with attack. He has a nice slew of surges, but let's say you roll 1 damage on his green and 2 surges on your yellow. You might as well reroll the green for a red (if you have the accuracy) and hopefully roll 5/6s of the other better chances for additional damage than just 1.

He's died horribly in the last 3 Bespin missions I've had him in and he only did okay damage once and that was due to Murn using him as a sock puppet, so really it was Murn. But I roll horribly. He only managed to hide himself once the whole time and that did nothing to protect him.

How did Murne use him as a sock puppet? False Orders can only be used on hostile figures with a figure cost equal to or less than the current threat level.

Probably with Waylay.
