I know Saboteur is just bad but.......

Sort of a kamikaze hwk. Close to R1 as quick as you can and hope for the best. Run away, take forever to turn and do it again. It would be nice to have title to store a focus or two because you will be losing actions to saboteur, but trying to keep it as cheap as possible because it will die. Or maybe instead fly him as a vulture hwk. Have him circle your other hitters and swoop down on the wounded.

This is obviously sub-optimal but I think the autoblaster / saboteur combo could be fun. Now tell me the 50 ways I'm wrong.

It's a good "biggslike" gimmick and could keep focus off of your other targets. Right now I feel like the meta is all about gimmicks so you never know :)

True..but I was hoping the "as you can" modifier would provide cover.

Saboteur and Autoblaster don't mix. If you're at range one, you want to maximize your autoblaster shots which means spending actions on dice modifiers instead of saboteur. I'd almost say use TLT instead and hit people with saboteur when they try to sneak inside the donut.

The problem is that while fun, Saboteur isn't good enough to dedicate a whole ship to. I'd put it on a ship that can fufill other roles when not using saboteur. The new TIE Bomber shuttle comes to mind. Maybe combine with Mara Jade or Tactician to lay some stress on people as well as flipping cards. This would also allow it to be combined with the Emperor who could guarantee that the hits are flipped.

Edit: Might as well stick Colzet in there as well to really be obnoxious.

K-Wing with Advanced Slam. Only place where I can think of where it won't be a total waste of an action. Not optimal, but not like that action was going to be useful anyway... (aside from bombs, future planning target locks, other action upgrades....)

The fact that it uses the action hurts it's usefulness a lot. That said, experimental interface will allow a ship to take multiple actions with it. As you won't be using saboteur every round, another upgrade that grants an action would be a good pair.

For example, maybe Saboteur, Experimental Interface, and Expose on a Decimator?

There also some ships which have pretty good action economy already and could get away with spending an action for Saboteur. In particular, anything with a systems slot that can be used for FCS or a predator EPT can maintain offense without needing an action. For example, a classic Whisper build with saboteur could be interesting.
