I think the hate is all stemming from the fact that the Rebels aren't the dominant faction in the current meta. The rebels have won the last 3 world champion so I am ok with them being not as dominant for a wave.
Rumored nerf to triple scouts??
or just leave it alone and play the game.
Like they left the phantom alone, or how they let fat ships continue to dominate?
Stagnation is death adapt or die.
Slow down there buckeroo (haha that worked out!). The Phantom was WAY WAY worse for the game where it was than the Jumpmaster. The jumpmaster means you can't have hard counters to all possible lists, which is good. However, the Phantom meant that there was so little that was even remotely competitive that it had to change. If you actually played in waves 3-5, you will recall that the only build that had a chance against the Phantom pre-nerf was Fat Han.
I think we can safely assume that FFG is play testing something that will hurt triple Jumpmasters. Why? FFG cares about the game and they are regularly looking at ways of tweaking the meta so that weak ships become playable, dominant strategies shift with new waves, and problematic interactions are ironed out. Cloaking, point fortresses, lack of elite pilots, ordinance, etc. have all been worked with in some fashion. I have no doubt they are testing "nerfs" right now, just like I have no doubts they are testing buffs.
there is no such rumor
all the designers have promised is a "hard counter" in wave 9
but they also promised an "ordnance fix" in wave 4

Remove EPT from PS 3 pilot and increase his cost by one point, then increase the difficulty of all the maneuvers by one step, add green to the left banks. The Jumpmaster is the biggest mistake they've made since the decloaking rules, and its not just the torpedo boats, the dial on the thing is ridiculous. There is no reason that an ugly, lopsided freighter with a pwt should be more maneuverable than dedicated military fighter craft.
While all of that may be true, it is also a bridge too far. The JMK5 genie won't be going back in the bottle anytime soon. Any counters will have to be either FAQ the card interaction or create a new card or mechanic.

What if they changed the text on the card/faqd it. I can see no other reason to include 2 copies of something unless it is a fix......
Like.... Enemy ships cannot spend focusnwhen attacking you..Boom. Deadeye no longer works, jumpmaster nerfed.
The counter to Triple Jumps has already been released: Counter Measures.
...
ok ok... but it really has: Imperial Bombers...AND DEFENDERS!

That still doesn't really address Fickle's point. His point was that the Devs introduced a card in Wave 4 that was expected to be a munitions fix. It wasn't, and we didn't see the actual fix for another four waves.
If in fact it's being tested, the only people who know about it are under NDAs. So nobody with first hand knowledge is going to post anything substantive in this thread. Nobody with secondhand knowledge of any hypothetical testing who doesn't want to risk implicating their tester buddies will post anything substantive in this thread.
So whoever you heard about the rumor(s) from, you're going to have to evaluate your sources without help from the board. Because nobody who could help you one way or the other is going to do so on FFG's official message boards . I mean, good lord.
Wow, this thread really took off! Guess I should have expected that.
Just to clarify for the sake of a few comments that were made...
1.I didn't imply the scout needed a nerf.
2.Also didn't say my sources were playtesters...if they were I certainly wouldn't be discussing any of what they were willing to tell me haha.
3. I'm not at the point of having any belief in this yet, I was just genuinely curious how widespread the rumor was, to see how many others had heard anything about it.
Aside from that, thankyou to everyone who's replied... and again, I promise I was really not intending to kick up a hornets nest.
Edited by DarthDaneTriple Jumpmasters in general don't need a fix. What is a problem is the combination of Deadeye + R4 Agromech, giving them freedom to choose their targets and ridiculous accuracy, with almost guaranteed 4 hits.
If R4 worked only during dice modification, it would solve the issue IMHO, as this would bring them in line with all the other ordnance carriers who need to work on setting up a modified ordnance shot.
Sure, there's still Overclocked R4, but this leaves them stressed, which they can clear only in one direction.
Whatever it is I hope it doesn't nerf a SINGLE Jumpmaster. I like the idea of flying Dengar, kitted out, and him being a serious threat.

I didn't ask anyone to sell anyone out. I wasnt looking for specifics on anything detailed. I didn't ask for first hand knowledge of any kind. I asked quite simply if the rumor had been heard which means that everyone who reads the thread is quite capable of helping me with a simple answer of yes or no. But if you want to pretend FFG is going to go all Big Brother and CSI the crap out of someone and track down who there friends are based on the answer "yes, I heard that rumor" or "nope, havent heard anything like that" ... well whatever works for you, but thats a little above the stress level I was looking for.
Edited by DarthDaneI don't listen to a lot of podcasts, but I have the distinct impression that this rumor started because one of the X-wing developers was on the podcast and mentioned something along the lines of something coming in a future wave that will give triple Jumpmasters trouble.
That was my point, whatever will come, will come when it comes. Whining about it every 12thpost isn't going to help things and while the OP wasn't trying to go there, I could see the whiners pulling up and setting up shop.
I don't want a nerf to my jump5k, I like it and play it the way it was intended, as a very utilitarian support ship. I'd say 60% of the time I run torpedoes on it, I only get 3 hits at best anyway.
Buckaroo Banzai : Hey, hey, hey, hey-now. Don’t be mean; we don’t have to be mean, cuz, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.

I have been playing a lot of Dengar/Manaroo myself and spent quite a while flying the "dreaded" triple boat list to have a better feel of how to beat it. I am at the point that I don't think it is "overpowered" but it certainly does limit certain ships from being in competitive play now.
However, that is a completely different discussion for, as you said, one of the dozens of threads already about it lol. Not looking to take this in that direction.
I do remember the podcast where the wave 9 hard counter came from. But that was several monthhs back so the timing seems off. Hearing it 3 times in 24 hours made me think something more concrete had to have been posted somewhere or leaked some how. Judging by the responses here though, that is clearly not the case.
Time to interrogate some friends a little more thouroughly I think haha.
Edited by DarthDaneSo what's the rule for people without an NDA who happen to know what the nerf is?
The only ship to be nerfed is Phantom there is no way they do anything to the Scouts because then they will start doing stuff with all the other ships that people complain about.
Let me ask a question what has Scout really won, Lets look at the big tornys this year.
Yavin was won by Tie Swarm, Jakku was won by Pal Ace, Ender was won by Palp Ace. Its not going to be at the Coruscant™ Invitational ether.
No Scouts are fine. I hate to say it but learn from the games and adapt. If your losing to hot dice rolls not much that can be done about that.
You guys are still losing to scouts?
There are at least 3 different HARD counters to jumpmasters. It's not anyone's fault that you're still losing but your own.

I'm glad you're not in charge of anything.
Here is a good quote to think about from Imperial Victory on Endor article, the winner of the event and how to over come.
What match-up did you fear most coming into the event?
Piotr: “I was afraid of playing against squads with huge firepower—Triple Jumpmaster 5000™ lists and Crackshot Swarms. That was another reason why I decided to choose ships with more vitality.”
Also look at this only 2 of the top eight had jump masters
https://www.fantasyflightgames.com/en/news/2016/4/5/scum-victory-on-hoth/
They are a good list but not an instant win.
Edited by CubanboySo what's the rule for people without an NDA who happen to know what the nerf is?
For them there are no rules. Just the promise of 15 minutes of fame.
If they want to adres the interaction between R4 and deadeye, the interaction between Overclocked and Deadeye should also be changed. I think most high ranking triple jump lists in the System Opens used more Overclocked anyway.
