So for those of you who have the Toolkit, should we consider the Core Set's retail cost to really just be $130, the cost of the set and the toolkit combined?

Yes. You should just consider the the ATK and Core to be the Core set @ 130 bucks.
As a GM I will be buying it as certainly my view is that it is semi-mandatory.
Would be interesting to hear whether there are any GMs who have bought the core set who aren't going to buy it.
Add the extra dice in, which I also think are necessary, and initial outlay is looking to be approximately £90. Of course other groups may have players who are willing to open their wallets a little more than mine. ![]()
Pretty much.
Any time you want to expand your action card/item card inventory....there is gonna be a fee.
Yes. There are some Action Cards and Talents in the mix which are so awesome that I can't imagine NOT having them now.
Yeah, I think that the Toolkit should have been in the Core Set, but I don't think it should have had a price increase equal to the two products. I am very impressed by the mechanics and quality components in the Core Set, but my two big gripes with it are the poorly written/edited rulebooks and the lack of stuff in the boxes for the price. I could completely understand if the game came with an equivalent amount of plastic as FFG's other upcoming $100 games, but it doesn't. It does have a lot of cards and tokens, but I doubt that there are that many more than a game like Arkham Horror which is almost half the price. Actually I think Arkham Horror is a very good comparison since it has a lot of cards, tokens, character stand-ups/sheets, etc. The only difference really is that Arkham has a board and WFRP has custom dice and more rulebooks.
Don't get me wrong, I am really impressed with WFRP, but I do feel the contents of the Toolkit and the Core Set could have been put together considering the price. Granted, I don't know how much it cost to produce any of the games I mentioned and how much they actually make on each one, but it does kind of feel like they split some content into the Toolkit in order to have another product fill in between the release of the Core Set and the first Campaign box.
Yes.
It's really required for play as it fills out the sadly lacking Elf careers.
BIG COMPLAINT: Still no magic for Elves. This is very lame FFG.
To be honest we are probably gonna see a highelf box, a woodelf box and a dwarfbox soon.

... and an Empire box as the current setup only covers Reikland. I look forward to all these additions!!

What? Can't elves be wizards? It's what High Elves are built to be for crying out loud.

For High Elves, you'd need High Magic (which, incidentally, is more powerful than college magic and thus, it can result in balance issues). For Wood Elves, you can use Lore of Beasts and Lore of Nature... when they get made for the new system. *G*
