Discussion Time: Armada Fleet Commander Contest, which faction?

By Lyraeus, in Star Wars: Armada

Just doing a soft poll on this, what faction are you planning on building for the contest?

I built and submitted a Rebel list. You would be so proud senpai! -laughs-

I have asked my friends to build a Rebel and an Imperial list. Next weekend we'll critique and improve what we have, and then put them in. Knowing that two of us like Imperial or Rebel and the other floats, we have a 50/50 of entering 2 of 1 and 1 of the other.

Once wave 4 comes in, then we are going to have a little "in house comp" against each other using our lists. So I'll play my Imperial List against the others Rebels and then my Rebels against their Imperials.

I like this approach of spoiling the new ships and getting players excited, it is far more inclusive than Sullust and I think watching the FFG folks play each other will be pure entertainment.

BTW: I know Sam does Order 66 Podcast Interviews. Would IFF ever consider having a tub-side chat?

Some peeps are saying that have submitted there's I cant find the right link for that one, where are people submitting?

Oh man, I can't believe I actually remembered this: but IFF already had Michael Gernes on the show back in episode 10, and he's a member of the Grand Quartet! So, you know, a post competition 'interview with Sam 'Stele' Stewart would be pretty cool.

Heyas Beefcake: The direct form link is right here (Clicky Linky ahoy!) But it's the second link in the Liberty preview, just for the record.

I am Posting a Rebel list because the Liberty is CLEARLY better in every way:P

Put mine in. Imperial. Figure my chances will be better if I'm the only one.

Rebel list submitted this morning :)

Imperial list submitted. I was working on one for each, but I had trouble with the Rebel list and I found that I couldn't make a more interesting Empire list, so I sent that in (literally the first idea that popped into my head for the contest, all fully formed in all its glory).

I really want to see what people did with the Liberty. I experimented with different ways of doing it and with different supporting ships, so I want to see which direction was the right way to go, or even if I came close to it.

Definitely going Imperial. I'd love to do a Liberty list (it's when I'm going to play Rebels) but I don't understand Rebel synergies well enough yet.

Not entirely sold on the Liberty because fsck reds, but... I can't see not submitting Rebels.

I'm building a Rebel list because...well, I want a functional Rebel list that has an MC80 that doesn't suck (regards to Biggs and others who made them work prior)!!!! :o

But I'm not ruling out a Imperial list. I kind of like the potential shenanigans afforded by an Interdictor.

Ultimately I don't fancy myself a great player either way. I just enjoy the game enough to occasionally get lucky and win.

Definitely went Imperial - the Interdictor is just too darn pretty not to!

rebels because I want a liberty :P

tired empire, keep slamming into close range dice-fests facilitated by a G8 + Targeting scrambler interdictor which might actually work very well, but I have little experience with those fleets so I have no idea if it's missing anything

certainly missing squadrons after two GSDs (1 demo obv) and a raider, ordnance experts on everyone (save interdictor obv) and rapid reload for the GSDs. Commander is that guy what comes in the Gonzati

just dive in, mudfight it out using carefree defense token expenditure and targeting scrambler re-rolls

I know I won't win but I am gonna try!

You could just throw in a Spinal Turbolasers on a VSD. If you win they will send you the Liberty. At least that should occur for first place.

I know I won't win but I am gonna try!

yeah, but then you're throwing Spinals on a VSD :/

maybe on an Afmk2 with Paragon, but I have a suspicion they're more likely to pick fleets that show off the new Wave 3/4 goodies

it is a marketing ploy at the end of the day, after all

so I sent over a liberty, a gr-75 and two nebs :P

81 points gives you 4 red dice at log range. 88 points gives you 2 shots AND when they do inevitably get behind you, you have Neb Firepower in the rear!

. . . You want to know a sad thing. . . That was my 4 same ships except and I had Nym, Luke, and Keyan

nothing sad about using awesome ships

more original than mine, though. I just sent over Oars and your typical B-wings + yt-1300 blob

it's about the only way I could think of to make Toyrn Farr worth a ****, though

plus Neb side-arcs and anti-squadron fire (both of which Salvation can now actually use, yay Spinal!); not to mention Liberty's armaments

I am still thinking of my Imperial ER list. . .
