Zuckuss Crew or 4Lom Crew - Dengaroo

By Kalandros, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've added my own twist to Dengaroo, but I'm not sure if I want Zuckuss which will stress all 3 of my ships, but give me a considerable advantage against base 3 evades ships, or 4Lom which will not only avoid stressing everyone but also allow me to use actions with Dengar, when Manaroo cannot supply the target lock or when I need to barrel roll with either or both Jumpmasters~

Here's the list:

Kaa'to Leeachos - Attanni Mindlink

Manaroo - Attanni Mindlink, Feedback Array, Intelligence Agent

Dengar - Attanni Mindlink, Inertial Dampener, Punishing One, R4 Agromech, Counter Measures, [1 pt Crew]

I feel this allows me to use the ships in formation, or simply closer together than a Lonewolf Dengar, and it allows me to more easily stack 2 focus on Dengar and on really offensive turns I could have TL+Focus on both of Dengar's attacks through the R4 (Manaroo TL > Kaa'to focus > transfer Manaroo's TL+Focus to Dengar for 2 focus + TL > Use TL on first attack, spend focus regardless to regain target lock and if that ship attacks you, retaliate with full modifiers again)

Also allows for more Barrel rolls on both Dengar and Manaroo's part.

I'm afraid that without Zuckuss Crew I might struggle some vs Palp Aces, but 4Lom might just be easier to use with this list, so that I don't literally telegraph my movements by being forced to do greens to get actions.

I'll be playing this for Regionals. Wish me luck, and advise me on which crew (or other modifications you might think of, though I quite like the list right now)

It's a really cool idea, fairly similar to the type of 3 ship Mindlink lists that I've been flying.

I agree that 4-LOM would be better for this list. Your action combo with Kaa'to/Manaroo is great, but its fairly complex, so adding stress to the mix could become very limiting.

I only have one suggestion. How vital is Kaa'to to the build? It seems that he adds another 'step' in the link that you could fill by using the K4 security droid on Manaroo. You could go for a Binayre Pirate instead, which would give you something to block U-boats with, and give you 4 points to upgrade Manaroo with.

This list looks like tons of fun though - best of luck with the tournament!

I was thinking that Kaa'to allows me to use manaroo as an aggressive blocker and ace zapper, Kaa'to can be the Mindlink enabler

I could also take a Binayre + Feedback to have 2 ace zappers, that might be really strong too.

Easier to ditch mind link and stuff manaroo

Might seem over indulgent but in my experience there is very little in X-Wing that contributes less to a game than a lone z95

Yeah yeah, paul heaver would disagree but none of us are paul heaver

Ditching mind link opens up zuckuss, the detriment (stress) of which manaroo allows you to utterly ignore. Ion? Not so much

Manaroo - ML, Int Agent, Unhinged, Feedback

Dengar - ML, P1, Zuckuss, R4 Agromech, Counter measures

5-1 Swiss - Lost to this list only: Palp Shuttle - Omega Leader (Juke, Relay), Inquisitor (V1, PTL, AT), Wampa

Top 8 cut - I made it 4th overall, won my Top 8 against: 2 Bombers (PS2 with LRS), Vessery (x7 VI), Carnor Jax (Stealth, AT, PTL)

Top 4 cut - Lost to the same list that beat me in Swiss and he won the Regional right after that.

There's just something about the way he plays his palp aces and his green dice really don't let him down more than once (and even then Evade Token + Palp = 2 saved even against 4 hits) but I did make mistakes and bad calls on certain maneuvers sadly~

Zuckuss definitely made many matchups much more easy than they would've been with 4Lom. Managing stress with Mindlink was actually fun and interesting. Thats the one thing I think I didn't mess up the entire day, proper token management between all 3 ships. That Z95 really was worth it. Maybe not as competitive as standard Dengaroo but it comes close to it!

If you are considering any crew besides Zuckuss for Dengaroo then you dont understand the power of the list.

Way to be condescending and offer absolutely nothing to the thread.

I think I added everything that needed to be added. If you ever flew the list you know the power is in Zuckuss and getting around the stress occurred by using Manaroo. Zuckuss is a beast and I foresee a nerf to Zuckuss crew or Manaroo to r1-r3 because of the power of this list.

Grats man! Well done. How did you go taking down TIE Defenders? I'm currently wondering whether Zuckuss or 4-LOM would be a better choice vs defenders, I feel like locking down that evade token might be more effective than counting on rerolling for damage.

Vessery in this case had X7 and VI, a simple loadout as he didn't have points for more stuff. After getting rid of Jax it wasn't hard at all to either dodge the Defender's arc or get my retaliation attack.

Might be different in the case of another Defenders list, we'll see~

I feel both 4Lom and Zuckuss are viable for this list, and yes, Zuckuss can fail to do any difference while 4Lom is guaranteed to block a token use, the Evade one being very awesome to block.

I played Dengaroo last Saturday going 3-1. I beat 2 aces lists and a defender based list. I only lost to Phil Boothe in the finals and he was running Boothbots. Was unable to get away from the bots with Manaroo and had to rely on blocking a bot to limits his damage output. Lost 68-50.

In all I still feel Zuckass is far superior in this list.

Zuckuss crew with mind link ships is better than you may think. As the other ships will only ever gain a max 1 stress total, so they can just do a green with 1 of the other ships and everyone will have a focus. Swap dengar a r 4 agro for Overclocked and he's also. Real tanky machine.

This is true. I did very well at a regional recently with Kath Scarlet with Mindlink/Zuckuss. I was passing her double focus/TL each turn with Manaroo. Ships were melting if they got into her back arc.

She is, alas, not as good as Dengar though, mostly because he can Sloop while stressed, whereas when stressed Kath is out of the fight, it takes her a loooong time to turn around and get back in.

But yeah, I think the pros of running Mindlink with Zuckuss usually outweigh the cons.
