Bounty Hunting

By mazz0, in X-Wing

I agree that thematically there should be both a "Captured Bounty" and a "Bounty Target/Price on his Head" cards.

I like Fickle's idea for "Bounty Target". All your ships get the one focus on attack, but no defensive bonus against the marked ship. The trouble is what slot to put that ability in? I'm thinking a bounty hunter crew makes the most sense, but all the hunters from the ESB scene are already in the game. Alternatively it could be an EPT.

Back to mazz0's idea, it seems like from the time scum got there own faction somebody (myself included) is always saying, "rebel captive should be allowed on scum ships too!" But I wouldn't expect an errata for Scum and imperial only on Rebel Captive.

Barring that though, consider there are some crew-less ships that do have prisoner holds in lore but no crew slot (IG-2000), ships with illicit slot that don't have prisoner holds (Kiraxz), so I have no idea what slot to take for "Captured Bounty". Maybe make it large ship only illicit?

Reduce the attack value of the first attack performed against this ship each round by 1. You may equip a second modification upgrade.

Trouble with that is you could put it on a Z95 or other small ship that clearly doesn't have room for a prisoner.

Scum Only. Titled ships only:)

So andrasta slave hounds tooth must hunter punishing one moldy crow. Would that be better?

I like it, but what about Virago?

Virago would work too. I just couldn't remember all the titles.

Is there space for a prisoner in a Star Viper, that was more my question? Even if you could theoretically squeez one in (like I'm sure you could on a Y-Wing) it wouldn't seem right.

I would go with Illicit Large Ship only that should cover all of the bounty hunter ships (except Mist Hunter) Designate one Enemy ship at the sart of deployment, if that ship is destroyed you may reroll 1 focus when attacking/defending if you are at r1 of the ship when it is destroyed you may reroll 1 blank

Mist Hunter would be pretty furious with you, mind.

I like the idea of [crew][illicit] that then gifts you a [crew] slot in return. It's a pain for IG-88, but the rest love it. (IG-88 was always the weird one, anyway.)

I like the idea of a bounty more than captive. Start of the game you pick one enemy ship. Your ship has a bounty on that ship and roles one extra attack dice against that ship. Nothing to powerful so the cost will be low.

Who says it doesn't? They have room for a certain amount of carry-on baggage, food, sidearms, survival gear, etc., so why not somebody's head, or a small bounty stuffed in an even smaller stasis crate, or whatever?

Fluff-wise, some Zs specifically did have room for more than one. N'Dru in particular basically made a living as a bounty hunt saboteur by collecting people with bounties on their heads and running them away from where the hunters were - he had a modified Z with a second seat.

E: I like the idea of an overall bounty upgrade - essentially, the player nominates a single ship in the enemy fleet, his whole fleet gets a bonus against that ship, and when it's destroyed the ship that destroyed it gets a defensive bonus for the rest of the game. Jabba crew, maybe...

OK, so how about a modification, scum only, and if you're a large ship you can equip a second modification?

Xizor was a crime lord, not a bounty hunter. He would have probably sent some underlings to collect bounties. It would be below his stature to do such "dirty" work. Anyway, the 'Viper was more a fighter than a transport . IMO

Guri was a Hunter/Assassin.

She had her own ship the Stinger tho.

True. She was a Hunter/Assassin. But they usually kill their target, not bring them back; and definitely not alive.

Yes, but I could see him stowing away a particular Rebel leader as a captive. ;)

Illicit upgrade X points

Would definitely be something new, a bonus that *only* matters in a tournament, impacts casual play none, and would totally bypass the other 2/3s of squads able to gain extra points

New, but probably not the best idea :)

I have been toying with a design around this idea, but it's an odd upgrade mostly relevant in tournament games.

The idea being that you want to include it on a ship that you are confident will survive until the end of the match - if it does, you get rewarded but if it doesn't you get punished. The ship simply becomes more valuable for no actual points investment.

Of course this probably ruins everything by allowing certain players to generate an artificially higher MoV during a tournament just because of who they faced.

I wonder if a 'This card does not occupy a crew slot.' bit would work.

It's got a crew icon on it, so you can't equip it to a ship without crew on the bar, but it wouldn't take up the space.

Still leaves the 'how does this fit on an IG-2000" problem.

It wouldn't need new wording such as doesn't occupy a crew slot, it could just add a crew slot.

I suppose IG2000 would need something special, maybe a modification - how does he carry bounties in the fluff?

By Legends, He has a small (and I assume very cramped) area for up to 8 captives and a stasis/bacta tank in case he roughs em up a bit.
