Bounty Hunting

By mazz0, in X-Wing

So, 2 things:

1) Scum should have something like Rebel Captive. They're Bounty Hunters, they should have bounties!

2) I should be able to put my bounty in my Firespray without using up my crew slot. I'm not sitting them next to me, they're downstairs in a plasteel box! I don't know what upgrade type would make sense - modification comes closest from a gameplay perspective but wouldn't really make sense on a ship designed to carry a bounty. Maybe a crew card that adds another crew slot.

I suppose ships less awesome than Firesprays should be able to take them too, even though why would you want to fly something other than a Firespray...

rather than rebel captive, kallus' mechanic is basically how "bounties" would operate in this game

you select a "bounty" and that motivates all your little scum buddies to do extra well against that target, due to the financial incentive

Ah, that's a bounty not yet taken, rather than a bounty bound and gagged in the hold, but yes, Scum should have that too!

I like this idea. Maybe a "Captured Bounty" card. It would cost a crew slot, and read something like, "Equipping this card adds one crew slot to your ship that must be filled with a crew from another faction. Enemy ships from that faction must/may/cannot....fill in the blank.

Put it in the illicit slot maybe?

Personally i found it odd that at least Boba didnt have a "Target In Sight" title card. Begining of the game declare 1 ship as having a bounty and Boba is after it, and he gets an unusual edge over it (may reroll all dice attacking or defending) for the game.

Put it in the illicit slot maybe?

Ah, trouble with that is not all ships with an illicit slot would have space for a bounty. Large ships only, perhaps?

I wonder if a 'This card does not occupy a crew slot.' bit would work.

It's got a crew icon on it, so you can't equip it to a ship without crew on the bar, but it wouldn't take up the space.

Still leaves the 'how does this fit on an IG-2000" problem.

It wouldn't need new wording such as doesn't occupy a crew slot, it could just add a crew slot.

I suppose IG2000 would need something special, maybe a modification - how does he carry bounties in the fluff?

Captured Bounty

Modification

Scum only, Limited

3 Squad Points

Reduce the attack value of the first attack performed against this ship each round by 1. You may equip a second modification upgrade.

In my custom cards list I have

"Bounty Hunter"

Illicit Upgrade, 2pts

Scum Only, Requires Unique Pilot or Crew present.

Once per turn, If your attack causes the target to receive a Red Token (Crit, Tractor, Ion, TL etc) then you may perform an additional attack against that target with a different weapon system. If you do not then clear 1 stress token.

We tried out some ideas for having a captured bounty but it didn't make sense. Once the Hunter has the bounty why the heck are they hanging around?

Trouble with that is you could put it on a Z95 or other small ship that clearly doesn't have room for a prisoner.

That question applies to Rebel Captive too. Maybe they're trying to escape and people are trying to stop them? Maybe they have more goals than just that bounty?

I ran out of time... I'll finish later.

Your Upgrade bar gains the Crew icon. 2 points

The real inconvinience is being able to specify 'bounty hunters' as a specific role for pilots and ships.

It would have been neat if they'd had a special upgrade slot and scattered it on all named bounty hunters, and appropriate specialist ships - so IG-88 could carry it, so too could standard Firesprays... but while Dengar could do it, a Contracted Scout couldn't, because they're not bounty hunters , y'see? :)

... Crew and Illicit, but providing an extra Crew, perhaps? That way it's an upgrade that takes up an upgrade slot, and demanded you had crew capacity, but isn't actually your crew.

Dual Upgrade card! Must start on the Kallus effect side. After your target is destroyed, flip the card for the prisoner effect.

Who says it doesn't? They have room for a certain amount of carry-on baggage, food, sidearms, survival gear, etc., so why not somebody's head, or a small bounty stuffed in an even smaller stasis crate, or whatever?

This isn't the Empire we're talking about here, it's Scum.
