Life is hard out there for a ship

By WhatsArmadaWithYou, in Star Wars: Armada

After reading the LIBERTY article and the INTERDICTOR article, which both introduce some awesome new possibilities to the game, I can't help but think that it's the lifespan of most ships just got a whole lot shorter. I haven't even had time to process these things, to build new lists with the new cards, or integrate the new and old together yet, but surviving was just made a lot more difficult. I can't wait to apply this new stuff to the Wave III / Wave IV Vassal Tournament but all the potential death and destruction got me thinking...

In spite of all this new ship-based swag, SQUADRONS are going to be more important than ever. There will now be so many ways to mess with your opponent's fleet or to melt it to slag, and with the introduction of Flotillas more ways to activate squadrons, but not so many more ways to OPPOSE squadrons. I'll leave it to the experts out there but these new posts have me wondering if the best way to avoid fleet manipulation and destruction is to bring max squadrons?

I welcome your thoughts.

You still need to know how to use those Squadrons.

Otherwise, you're just bringing 134 free points for your opponent...

I think it makes the 8 YT-2400 even more valuable. Even if you can't afford to activate squads. Plus these two new ships are 2 more reasons not to attack a Flotilla.

Interdictor actually greatly improves ship lifespans with Scrambler and potential projection experts

Provided you get your other ships into slugfest midnight range, ofc

I actually expect to see a new "Control" element to the game with the Interdictor. Rather than simple brute force, it might make some more finesse-driven lists come out of these additions.

The Rebels. Well the Rebels got a space-worthy drifting sledgehammer.

Not only is it a "space-worthy drifting sledgehammer", with Madine and Chart Officer, rebels fleets can will be able to dance around like crazy.

I think you're seeing the game balance out in such a great way. The Imperials can now dictate the flow of the battle and where it takes place with the Interdictor...but then the Liberty brings the front on approach and cranks it up to 11 with the ability to take double turbolasers...which tbh I think is going to be very very very nasty for whoever plays in that front arc.

I think Wave 3 and Wave 4 are going to change this game for the better...toilet bowl and slow roll will become a thing of the past in many cases.

Yup. Drifting Space Sledghammers.

Throw in a few fighters to act as pickets.....maybe a spinal nebulon or a TRC90 with intel officer.

I like the cut of your jib, sir.

You'll love the cut of my dark blue vest, and tailored blue jeans...as I rock the most disgustingly wicked Liberty/Nebulon combo.

I just need to find a good name for it like "fish and chips."
