Liberty article is up

By Formynder4, in Star Wars: Armada

I feel like 96 points for the liberty is a steel when the interdictor costs 93...

I worry that this wave is not going to be balanced as the Rebels get the Easy to use Easy to master Beast that now counters pretty much counters all current imperial Strategies.

By contrast the Interdictor is built as a Hard Counter to rebel flanking tactics but costs as much as an ISD-1 and relies on maneuver based Effects which means it is automatically going to much harder to use effectively especially considering the fact that it seems to want to use Flanking tactics but is stuck at speed 2 without Engine techs. All the while causing less average damage then a trc90 which costs half as much.

I think it's only real redeeming quality is the crazy Engineering value but with only 1 brace and no ECM will be able to weather the fire from Large ships? Also if you are needing engine techs to position and flank will you have the commands left to use that repair command?

Grand Moff Token says yes.

Can I say that I am in love? I think I am in love. This ship, this fine ship. I will buy 3. Also Armada is dead.....

Rebels get the Easy to use Easy to master Beast

The Liberty is so wonky in the speed chart, actually having a reverse of the VSD's speed 2 chart is harsh. Sure it can have engine techs but that's not a good idea. It is also fragile as frak!

Well, I think that Rebels just got a new set of strategies that they didn't have before. It's an ISD-lite, cheaper but more vulnerable once you outflank it. And people already know how to deal with ISDs.

Two main Liberty weaknesses are vulnerability to bombers (2 shields, only 1 redirect, 8 hull) and the absence of offensive/defensive slots. So it feels like one-trick pony to me.

Or in the words of one certain admiral "It's a trap!" ;)

Meanwhile Inderdictor is the ultimate control ship that presents Imperials with some unique abilities (that will take time to figure out and manifest though)

Mon Karren is the card of the article for me, and probably one of the strongest titles in the game. 8pts to limit your opponent to a single defence token whilst defending is crazy good.

Here, take my my money!

Here, take my money!

You know the funny thing, if ACMs trigger the basic crit. . . You could hit a ship with the ACMs crit and if they don't have a shield hey take a card so it could be face up. . .

Funnier would be XX9 triggering on both ACM shots. :D

I agree. Also, one of the major advantages rebels had in previous waves was speed and manueverability. Still is. But the imperials now have a great number of tools at their disposal to slow down those heavy rebel fleets.

I think the Liberty is awesome, and certainly the more straightforward ship, but dont discount the interdictors value and the powerful upgrades the rebels simply cannot access.

gotta say I don't really "understand" the liberty

I look at it and all I see is an incredibly cost effective ISD-2 (if the ISD-2 were wholly specialized offensive anti-ship)

maybe that's the exact point?

I love the double turbolasers...but am crying at the lack of defense upgrades.

I was sold before, but this article just double-sold me on the Liberty. Not only is it pretty (finally we get the wings) but also an offensive beast. And we get a commander that reinforces the Rebel movement bull****.
What do we call this? Tatooine Drift?

Clon is starting to sound like the Admiral.

Every good rebel card. Its unfair!

I know, i know, too many demo naysayersabout too.

I love Mon Karren but I don't think it is Demolisher amazing. It will be interesting to see

Throw Engine Techs on there and you're doing space donuts in the parking lot.

Over all, less flexibility, more combat potential but fragile. It is a Battlecruiser through and through where as the ISD is more of a Battleship

so I guess the question remains: how do we break it :P?

ISD looking profile just has me slapping gunnery teams on it, maybe leading shots and Mon Karren, and calling it a day. At 115 points for the star cruiser, still 5 below a naked ISD-2

our good friend Madine also seems fun with Nebs. Salvation anyone? you turn that front arc just the way you like it!

I immediately went to grab my maneuver tool to confirm.

only with Nav Team.

You just had to spoil our fun didn't you? WHY DON'T YOU LET US DREAM OF DUMB MANEUVERS?! :D

On the other note, AFMk2A with spinal suddenly becomes a very interesting ship.
