X-Wing Mission: Snubfighters Vs LEGO Star Destroyer

By Nayr000, in X-Wing Mission Control Technical Support and Feedback Forum

I am a mission writing noob, looking for any help I can get on an idea I had. I own a LEGO Star Destroyer and wanted to do a Snubfighters Vs LEGO Star Destroyer (SD) Mission.

Setup:

-Players choose 1 faction to take on the SD, the Fighter Squadron is then built up to 200 points (open to opinions here, not sure 200 points is right) from that faction

-1 Player controls the SD

-Play area: Place two 3x3' mats side by side, no obstacles

The Mission:

-SD deploys on 1 short side, rear of the SD up against the center of that side. Fighters deploy on the opposite side within range 3 of their table edge

-SD moves 1 forward at PS 0, and each turbolaser battery takes an action (Focus or TL)

-Any ship that overlaps the SD at any point is destroyed and deals 1 damage to the SD

Victory Conditions:

-Fighters win if the SD is destroyed

-SD wins if all fighters are destroyed

SD Stats:

-2 Attack (per turbolaser battery)

-0 Agility

-15 Shield (?)
-30 Hull (?)

-SD has 5 turbolaser batteries, each with ~180 degree arc (this is pretty clear on the model using the raised hull behind each battery as the arc line

-Turbolaser batteries turn all hits to crits (not very accurate, but when they hit it hurts!)

This is my first/rough draft. Open to any help I can get!

15 Hull and 30 shield can nearly be reached by a 100 pt standard squad, and 0 agility means it could be killed in two turns by a good list at 200 pts.. I'd suggest something like 40 Hull and 80 shields, plus some kid of shield regeneration rule like:

If the Star Destroyer has not been attacked out of its various turbolaser arcs in a turn, it recovers 15 shields

Additionally, the turbolasers will kill 1 ship per turn. At maximum. Anything with 4 agility will never die. I'd say 5 dice at range 1, four at range two and 3 at range 3 would be appropriate, encouraging the snubfighters to either stay at range or avoid the turbolaser arcs when coming in close.

It's a tricky thing to manage, because an ISD was a match for anything up to four snubfighter squadrons, excluding Rogue Squadron. It's therefore hard to construct what is essentially a 200 pt single ship. Nevertheless, I absolutely love the idea, and could make for a fantastic 8 player mission (1000 pts to a side, Star Destroyer player gets a 50 pt escort). And even as a two player game, I'm dying to know how it goes (if you haven't done it already).
