What Exhaustion Means For Cards

MS-1 Ion Cannons

Blue crit: Choose and exhaust one of the defender's upgrade cards.

RRG 6:

Exhausted

Cards and defense tokens can be exhausted. Exhausted

cards and defense tokens cannot be exhausted again.

• To exhaust an upgrade card, rotate it 90° clockwise.

• To exhaust a defense token, flip it from its readied side

to its exhausted side.

• When a card or defense token is readied, it is no longer

exhausted.

Just getting it out there early:

Exhausted upgrade cards' abilities still work. The main benefit of exhausting upgrade cards is to disable an "exhaust to use" upgrade like Intel Officer, Engine Techs, Sensor Teams, Electronic Countermeasures, Wulff Yularen, the new Experimental Retrofits, etc.

It should also be noted that you can use ECMs (in the spend defense tokens step) prior to them getting exhausted by a blue crit from MS-1 Ion Cannons (in the determine crit step), so if you're specifically looking to hose ECMs, putting the MS-1s on an ISD (where the ECMs are likely to get used anyways) is probably not a great idea. On something with moderate blue dice where you aren't confident you'll roll an Accuracy (like a VSD or Interdictor), maybe.

It was a card I was super-super excited for at the start, but gradually became more and more depressed about as I researched...

There is nothing about Exhaustion of a Card that stops that card from activating, unless that card is an Exhaustable card in the first place...

So so far, Ard and Snip have covered it...

Exhausting Engine Techs will frustrate Demolisher...

Exhausting APTs will do squat to Frustrate demolisher...

Unless we get an Errata to state otherwise. Which, I do not believe we will... Because with it, you could Temporarily Exhaust Motti and cause ships to explode in certain circumstances....

Question, how does exhausting Motti cause his effect to be lost? His effect doesn't stipulate he needs to be readied to grant his effect.

Not arguing, but I am genuinely curious how that would be possible.
