Hello, I just bought the game, haven't played it. Going to give it to my brothers as a Christmas present. So I downloaded the PDF rules to translate them to portuguese and be able to understand the game to explain to them, instead of wasting time after opening it. So here are some questions that poped up after translating the whole manual:
#1. In the Mythos Phase, when there's an open gate at the location and a monster surge happens, it says all the monsters have to be equally placed amongst all the locations with open gates. And no other location can have more monsters than the one where the monster surge happened. So, how do I divide the monsters if there are already other monsters in play? Does the "equaly place" only applies to the placed monsters, or do I have to worrie about those already in play? Like when placing monsters, if there's a location with already 3 monsters and all the others have 0, i can't put any on that location? Or can I still place them there, like 2 there (to a total of 5) as long as I put 1/2/3 in the other locations?
#2. In the Victory section, it says that in case of draw, the victory goes to the player with the most Monster Trophies. Is that between only the 2 or more players who had the same number of Gate Trophies, or between all players?
#3. In the Fight/Flee section, what do they mean by: "If a monster toughness is bigger than 1, parcial sucesses have no effect"?
#4. What is a retainer? Find me a synonym, please. I don't know if it refers to the job or another thing.
#5. In the Terror Track section, it says that for each level that goes up, I have to remove a random Ally Card from the Deck (if it goes up 2 levels, i remove 2). What about if the Terror Level is already at 10 and goes up? Do I only place the corresponding Doom Tokens in the AO Doom Track? Or do I still remove Ally cards? I don't think so, because Terror Level isn't going up anymore (maximum is 10).
#6. The AO awakens if the Terror Level is 10 and there are monsters equal to double the allowed limit.
- 6.1. Is it only really the double? Like limit=8, Total monsters=16? Or can it be more than double? Limit=8 Total monsters=17
- 6.2. When refering to monster limits (and card text, effects, whatever) that say something about the number of players, what is the number of players which matters? The inicial one (like 2 Player Game) or if someone dies (1 player remains) the monster limit changes, and the text which depend on number of players to place monsters, etc also change?
#7. In the final battle, the number of successes needed to hit the AO depends on the nunber of players (removed ones included). Do the removed ones include only the ones devoured in the beginning of the battle, or ALL the ones that died/were removed since the beginning of the game?
I'm sorry for all these questions, some are stupid, I know. But I just want to make it clear. This game is already hard in english...
