Protectorate and EPT?

By Zazaa, in X-Wing

Going further on the Fearless investigations, the article specifically mentions that Fangs will appear on paper like natural arc-dodgers but the pilot abilities will favor head-on approaches. If the body is strong at arc dodging, people are gonna want to throw PTL into that EPT - Fearless has been designed to compete directly with PTL and it'll have to synergize so strongly and be costed so efficiently that, at least on a named Fang pilot with title, it's a no brainer. PTL obviously won't get pulled for the low ps guys even if they get ept's, but it's worth keeping in mind.

The alternative is that we'll still see Fenn Rau PTL's but the little guys will get fearless instead. Maybe it'll create bizarre mind games with enemy aces who will try to reposition out of matching range 1 arcs

the theory is sound, but if Fearless actually is Concord Dawn Protector in reverse, you're probably going to see

  1. PTL Rau
  2. PS 1 blockers
  3. Crackshot PS 5s

sure, "Fearless" or "Fearlessness" is re-usable, but given the hilariously strict triggering conditions, you'd be lucky to even get it off once per game

not that that's necessarily a bad thing, as 3 viable ship configurations is pretty **** good for any vessel

Yeah....while you could argue that it doesn't say the range at all....the title is Fearless- That tends to think getting close.

there's no other game term I could think of that begins with a capital "R"

No no....I'm not disagreeing it says Range. I'm saying it doesn't have to be Range 1. Still, if I had to guess, I would guess it does say Range 1.

I like that PTL challenge theory!

Any one ever think this combination, this is kinda out of the subject, but anyway. Fenn Rau with stealth device and tittle, Serissu with bodyguard and stealth device and Manaroo with recon specialus and PTL.

That would give Fenn Rau 6 defence dice at Range 1 and 3 with reroll and focus got from Manaroo. Could also protect Serissu with Manaroo if it looks bad for him/her so she can use that evade and give the focus to do bodyguard.

Just wanted to point out that! :D

Given how contested the PS3-4 bracket is right now, I feel that PS3 EPT with crackshot as a budget alternative to PS5 with crackshot, would be it's own popular build. Go for the cheap cracks that get alpha'd down by other crack squadrons, or pay for PS5 to be the one alpha-ing blackcracks.

Why do you think Fearless has something to do with Range 1? I'm trying to squint to see things, but I don't see anything specific to R1.

It seems to follow the same pattern as the title from the text that is visible. It looks like the third word on the third like is probably "Range" (only the R is visible but from the context it is almost definitely Range).

Still kind of subjective. Probably R1, but not certain enough for me to say for sure.

I don't thinl EPT can be fix for any ship. Somehow I think that where the tittle is pure defence card, this will be to boost attack, but it won't be any solution for Scyk or Star Viper...

I dunno....being able to add on a free hit result for being at R1? Just look at Guri for that. She loves to be at R1 for her ability and if she can get a free hit result added to 4 red dice + free Focus.....

I think fearless will be my goto ept for guru if it does what we think, but an ept alone CANNOT be the fix for the starviper and scyk, because the non-ept generics need fixes too. More than the names ones do in the starvipers case b

Kinda laughing at the idea of Talonbane, Fenn Rau and Zuckuss, all with Fearless EPT and all jumping into range 1 of triple jumpmasters.

I mean, that is 15 red dice and 3 hits. Has anyone ever gotten higher then 18 potential hits in a 100 point match up before? What is the maths on that?

Four AC advanced with cluster guaranteed 16 hit with potential for 24.

I assume they are PS2? The Scum version is potential triple nine's but I still love the idea of that.
