Droids, Integrated Armor, and their attacments

I am starting a droid character and plan on integrating his/her/its heavy battle armor. Now comes the 1st of 2 questions, would that count as "power armor", 2nd if so and i give it the Hardened attachment from KtP (pg. 56) does that mean my droid is now immune to ion weapons?

I am pretty sure I know the answer already, but i have to ask.

Thanks

If it starts out as Heavy Battle Armor, then that is not considered “Powered Armor”, and I wouldn’t expect it to become “Powered Armor” just because it’s being integrated into your chassis.

If you wanted to start off with Battlement or Kav-Dann Powered Armor, then yes — I think that should continue to qualify as Powered Armor once it is integrated.

Either way, I’d have to look at it again, but in my game the Hardened attachment wouldn’t make you immune to ion weapons, just more resistant to them. Ion weapons would no longer completely ignore your Soak, for example.

But maybe that’s just me.

The armor is mechanically the same whether held on by zippers, straps, and snaps/buttons or held on by rivets and glue.

The thing with Droids is that they usually don't interact with items the same way organics do.
Therefore only a few Droids actually wear clothes and it doesn't make sense for them to wear armour, as it is not made to fit droids and their akward body shapes.
Instead they bolt plates onto themselves, or buy a combat chassis or something along the lines.

Long story short it works rulewise the same way as other armour, but only storywise it is very different.
Furthermore, I don't think that there is something in the game which is called Powerarmor

There is an item which is called implanted armour, which is basically armour implanted under your skin, but this only gives you a 1/1 Defense if I'm not mistaken and takes up a cybernetic slot.

Ion weapons would no longer completely ignore your Soak, for example.

I looked it up, and it specifically says that ion weapons do not ignore Armor or Soak (AoR p. 170, I assume it's the same in the other rulebooks).

To the OP, the Hardened attachment only works on Powered Armor, which Heavy Battle Armor isn't (add a Strength Enhancing System and I'd say it is, though). A few of the armors specify that they are powered (Kav-Dann, Leviathan and PX-1, maybe others besides). All the attachment does is prevent ion weapons from disabling the powered armor; it doesn't make a droid wearer immune to ion damage. Check out the Energy Dispersion System attachment for a little extra protection against ion weapons.

Not if you have a tool kit.
