We have an old storefront that is our gaming space, and we leave it all there. Xwing, armada, and others. ships are fully assembled on the countertop and ready to go. components in plano boxes. for a game like Axis and allies, someone usually gets there early to set everything up. yeah, we got a good group
Fast Setup/Takedowns
I posted a zip binder for your upgrade cards on page 1. I can not recommend it enough.
I always make sure my fleet is built and ready before I leave. I use Plano tackleboxes and Sirwilibald's boxes. Be sure to get Plano boxes that take the 3600 and 3700 inserts. For the cards, I use all those little zip lock bags (or at least I will until I build a sirwilibald box or boxes) with my play fleet segregated and ready to go. I was pulling tokens out for each match but I've put them into the equipment box for each ship so I jsut have to pour it out to be ready. The Plano 732 is great thanks to modularity and the Plano hybrid hip tray is good because you can swap the trays on top for the 3700 series inserts. Both are reasonably priced at Wal Mart
Folks have hit on most of the points. Organize your tokens. I have three Plano 3500 containers. One setup for Imperial tokens, one for Rebels, and one for dice and the stuff like objective tokens that go either way. Upgrades in a binder with the now commonly available 16 pocket sheets. Zip baggies with all the command dials and speed dials. Then you just take your fleet to the game space having pulled the correct number of command and speed dials.
I have some plastic "shoe-box" sized containers with bubble wrap to put the models and ship/squadron cards and upgrades in. Grab the dice Plano and the faction appropriate token set Plano. I also write out or print out the fleet list so I don't have to wonder what I was thinking with the stack of upgrades I pulled. Small easy to carry stack of stuff.
The big thing with speeding these games up is showing up already knowing what list you're going to play. If guys are showing up with everything they own and then pulling a list, that really bogs things down. It also takes up a lot of space. Especially if they're not organized guys. You have to do some prep before hand.
Also, the hybrid hip tray from Plano has a removable tray that is perfect for table hopping at tournaments.
