Wave III & IV to buy or not buy...

By Ken at Sunrise, in Star Wars: Armada

Final thought/worry will Waves III and IV add too much depth/complication and begin to drift away from someone fairly new just playing?

I'm buying one of each on wave 4, two of each on wave 3, and then two more Assault carriers. Gozanti repair swarm, here we come!

2 of each wave. that is how I do every ship, except fighters and rogues.

You could buy 1 of everything and play without getting bored for a while. Well that is my opinion.

Whatsarmadawithyou?!? Buy it all x2!! As someone who has played Imperial since the Massing at Sullust event I am thrilled right now.

you can kit out 30s to fit nicely with it

The Interdictor doesn't make much sence to me in Armada. The ships are already out of hyperspace and are going to fight. The game also still only lasts 6 rounds (unless the interdictor will change that in it's reveal). So, you get some new upgrade cards and some area control. You can enforce area control with other elements of the game.

The Liberty also screams "new Rebel ship that points forward!" and not much else, oh and "new cardz!"

Interesting thoughts especially about the LIberty. The Interdictor, honestly I like the looks, awesome and the LIberty was in Return of the Jedi. But I could do without them. I could wait and see on these two.

I feel wave 0-III gives players a great ammount of content for fantastic replayability.

This is what I was hoping for. I like the ships but don't want another endless game of expansions as I don't play often enough already. Browsing lists on-line I was thinking perhaps a second Gladiator and Assault Frigate, I didn't think I needed a second MC30c.

As for the Imperial Assault Carrier and GR-75 I'm definitely NOT into spam lists, even fighter ones. I want enough for variety and replay-ability. I was thinking since they are smaller ships maybe two packs of each so really I don't have a good reason.

Yup, I'm just not sure how a forward shooting Liberty is supposed find synergy with the other broadsiding Rebel ships. Maybe with Nebs or AFs or we may have to see what comes out in future waves.

The Wave III ships also (to me) seem like descent support ships. They remind me of the WWII tenders that would be with the task forces at sea, Refuel/Repair/Reload.

Eh, just slap Ackbar on it. He still covers a multitude of sins. 5 reds and a blue with a CF command is nothing to sneeze at. Especially if it has a Weapons Team slot and can take Gunnery Team (which it will, right?). Worst-case scenario, you have a beefy ship to put at the head of your conga-line. :P

Unless it's only Speed 2 with no support team slot. Then nevermind. :D
