Clone Wars ships WITHOUT new starter or factions

By Rhosaarc, in X-Wing

There is a statement from FFG saying they will have rebellion era ships. ie no prequel ships unless they also exist in rebellion era I dont have link but if you search you wiill find.

They can easily justify any clone wars era ship to be still in use by one of the fractions in the relevant era.

Oh, hey! Don't wait for FFG, make them yourself. We have been having great fun with TCW era ships for a while. The only down side is flying a pack of Separatist Droids...16+ dials can get a little twitchy at times.

Are most of these fighters the WotC SSB versions? I believe they are a bit behind FFG's scale. I'd also figure that the Consular class cruisers are huge sized instead of just larges.

I would personally really like to see a Separatist faction, perhaps with cross compatibility with Scum.

However I can think of maybe only 6 ships that would be viable?

Vulture droids, Tri Fighters, Hyena Bomber, HMP Gunship, Ventress' Ship & maybe the Trident...

Can any one think of any more? Bare in mind even Scum have 13 ships at this point with room to grow.

I just don't see that they have the room to really become a full faction.

That's what they appear to be. And yes, the Consular would be a huge ship, since it's 115 meters long.

From the movies: Vulture, Tri-fighter, HMP Gunship (albeit I'm not sure if it's space capable), Genosian Nantex-class, Grievous' Belbullab-22, Sheathipede-class shuttle (there are armed variants), Porax-38 (magna guard fighter), Mankvim-814 (I think it was cut from the movie), maybe the Scimitar (Sith Infiltrator)

From TCW: Hyena Bomber, Venteress' Ginivex-class, Umbaran starfighter, maybe the Trident.

That's 10-13 ships just from the canon material (that's MUCH better than scum), I might have missed something and I'm sure there is more in comics, novels and video games, for example there are some more fighters and bombers in the Galactic Battlegrounds, from where FFG took the TIE Interdictor/Punisher.

Aloha!

Yeah, they are mostly WoTC, some MM, some DeAgostini and Taco Bell thrown in. The sizes are a teensy bit off on a few but no more than FFG's versions. Example, the huuuuge A-wing. I used a scaling tool and all are close except the Eta-2 which is FFG A-wing scale. That consular cruiser is another story entirely, I would love a CR-90 size one but the model kits are super pricey. As it is, it's a neat model that is going to become a McQuarrie Original Falcon when I get some things cleared off of the work bench (riiiight, clean work bench, hehehe). Thanks for the kind words/likes everyone!

For those that are interested, I use this site for cross manufacturer scales. Be warned though...it will damage your wallet.

There is a statement from FFG saying they will have rebellion era ships. ie no prequel ships unless they also exist in rebellion era I dont have link but if you search you wiill find.

Little fuzzy as to what's Canon and what's Legends but I did my homework:

LAAT/i was used by Rebels

V-Wing was still in use by the Empire

Darth Vader in his Jedi Starfighter was several years after the Clone Wars, but no mention of it during the Galactic Civil War so that could be out.

There's battle droids and droidekas in the RPG line.

Like I said, if the ARC-170 had never been made I would never have even thought about other ships. Unlike what I've mentioned, I've seen and read no evidence of the Rebellion ever using it.

If they ever do this and release the ETA-2, they had better put 2 in a pack, those guys are so tiny.

And here's the armed version:

So? Tarkin is an official novel they can pull from. They're the reason it exists.

If an ETA-2 ever exists, you can almost guarantee Vader as a pilot for it. Go ahead, quote me- save this, and if I'm wrong, have fun with that.

Not only would Vader be one of the pilots for it, the miniature would be Vader's personal Eta-2 with the black paint scheme.

Likewise, if the V-wing is brought into the game, we can expect it to look something like this.

As for Vader having his TIE Advanced in Rebels, that just means he got it sometime in the 9 year gap between Tarkin and Rebels.

I would be very surprised if the empire got anything out of the prequels. Rebels and scum going dumpster diving for any old clunker that can fly semi-straight and mount a blaster makes sense; fits the factions' character

not so much the empire, outside of maybe fringe sith craft

in gameplay terms, though, if the ARC-170's release model (4 unique pilots; no generics) becomes the norm for prequel ships (to establish that they're no longer being produced; rare etc.) it opens up a bit of design space

basically, you don't have to worry about the ship's jousting value nearly as much because you'll always have a pilot ability to compensate

could be interesting to see what the future holds

For the Empire, it wasn't a matter of snatching up old surplus as that they didn't instantly replace all the Clone Wars ships with TIEs. In the current canon, five years after RotS is when the TIE Fighters first went into mass production.

So yea...wave 10 just happened...

I thought FFG had turned a new leaf by adding the arc-170 into wave 9, but it appears I'm wrong, at least for the moment.

Everything about wave 10 screams ffg trying their most desperate to add canon ships that aren't in the prequels or clone wars. Which until the next movie comes out doesn't give them a lot of options.

I'm fine with kylo's shuttle, that was probably a given at some point. But a rebel tie fighter and a quad jumper before a N1, or a V-Wing, or almost any other ship from that era? I wish they'd just give up on this galactic civil war and beyond crap already and just make it more like their new destiny game. X-wing already spans about 40 years between rebels and TFA so what's an extra couple decades more? The fluff aspect which was shaky already went out the door with the addition of TFA ships IMO.

Only plus is that ahsoka and rex are getting into the game now.

They've already very quietly added a Clone Wars only character in Wave 9, in the form of Asajj Ventress. She's definitively not alive in the Galactic Civil War era, yet she's an available pilot in the game.

In the newcanon Adventures in Wild Space series - there's plenty of them - and Ezra is still only a baby (he was born on Empire Day) - suggesting they may have entered service earlier.

Lords of the Sith had Vader's flagship (surely somewhere near the top of the priority list for new equipment) carrying exclusively V-wings, five years into the Empire. Tarkin, set later the same year, referred to TIEs as being brand-new, and V-wings were still ubiquitous.
