Tie/D Title

By Mr Slippery, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I've looked in FAQ, which I'm guessing hasn't been updated on the back of this release yet. I'm looking for clarification on the second attack that can be performed using the Tie/D title card. I would assume that the second attack has to be on the same ship you have targeted with the first cannon attack?

Nope. Unless it specifies that it must (e.g. Cluster Missiles, TLT) the attack can be against whomever you want.

Do what the card says. Do not do what the card does not say. The card does not restrict your targetting, so your targetting is subject to not additional restrictions than normal.

When applying this logic to other cards like TLT, it also doesn't restrict you to one target on the card, but it has been clarified within the FAQ that you can only stick to a single target.

Is there any reference material you can point me to on this response?

TLT is clarified in the FAQ - 'perform this attack twice' skips the Declare Target step for the second attack.

OK - Thank you =]

The same applies for any upgrade that grants an extra attack (other than TLT and Cluster Missiles). Attacks with Gunner may be on a different target than your first attack, as can the Y-wing with the BTL-A4 title. There's probably a few more, but I can't recall off the top of my head right now.

The FAQ clarified that any upgrade or ability that was phrased "perform this attack twice" must be on the same target. Unless, there's a restriction on the card, it's open season on any target the card would normally allow.

in a sense, i could see the tie defender getting use out of that rule dodge.

Fire TB at ship right in your face, force him to boost/barrelroll out of arc then primary fire at the other ship in your face. Sorta an inverse arc-dodger :D

But yes, unless its TLT/Cluster missiles its a completely separate attack requiring a target declaration and spending any resources (if required).
