A Basic list

Hello all.

I decided to build a casual list using only things i own(meaning no proxy or borrowing). My full collection at the moment is :

Force Awakens Starter

TIE/fo

TIE

TIE interceptor

Imperial Aces

Imperial Veterans

So, here is the list that i have put together using my small collection :

I went with Turr Phennir because i really want to fly him because his Pilot ability seems like a blast to me.

The idea i have is to run Howlrunner and the FOs in formation while Turr runs interference.

I am not sure however. It seems to me like Turr is lacking support in this list and may be vulnerable.

Using only stuff in my collection, does anyone have suggestions for me to improve this list?

Are you looking for something to play around with our something to compete with?

Playing around anything works, and honestly is a great way to learn how ships move and the intricacies if a battle.

If you're looking for something to compete with, then I honestly have to suggest getting something else for your collection. Slave 1 comes with some good upgrades, including Stealth Device, which Turr desperately needs. To fit it, I'd drop swarm tactics from Howlrunner, and I'd drop Epsilon Leader for Zeta Leader+Wired. I would honestly make that swap no matter what you do with the rest of the list, as the extra attack die, especially in a TIE swarm setup, is brutal. Also remember that you can't perform free actions while stressed, and you can't perform the same action twice in a round. So you will likely need to wait and use your PTL off the free barrel roll or boost from attacking. Not bad, as you could take an evade and get some defensive help after firing.

I am looking for something to just play around with but i still want it to be reasonably strong.

Synergy and list building are skills i need to learn and optimizing casual lists is a decent way to do so.

For now i cannot make a new purchase of any ships, The initial buy in set me back a bit. But i will swap out the Epsilon leader for Zeta as you suggested. I did not notice the Synergy Zeta leader has with Wired and he is definitely a better fit than Epsilon Leader.

I realize it is not the same, but would dropping the Swarm tactics to add Hull Upgrade to Turr be worthwhile? Or will the extra point of hull not mean much?

In a non competitive game that list will work fine.

You have a reasonable number of ships, okay abilities. But I'm struggling to see what the plan would be here.

Turr is fine as is, but he will need to run as a lone wolf and arc dodge as much as possible so will likely not benefit from Epsilon leaders ability that often.

Also the synergy between Epsilon and Howl runner is not great. Generally you would use Epsilon Leader to clear stress from other FO's having all pulled Red maneuvers so you can move as you wish next turn. Howlrunner only has a K-turn that matches the FO red maneuvers, so you may find Howlrunner ends up away from the swarm, or you just don't use Epsilons ability that effectively because you cant really pull you red maneuvers that often.

In you case, I would drop Howlrunner, and if you can use your standard tie model as another FO, then boost turr to Soontir Fell,.

I think it would give you more control to avoid being shot. The problem with TIE swarms is they have limited movement if they want to stay together, so try not to limit them even more,

There was not a major plan with this list, admittedly, other than i Like Howlrunner and Turr's pilot abilities and am a little bit limited because of my collection.

I would like to possibly keep Howlrunner, but i can definitely see what you mean.

I do like Raven's suggestion about swapping Upsilon Leader out. It does solve the issue you are saying(I.E. his Pilot ability is not being fully utilized.)
