Imperial Stress!

By Han Silo, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I've been thinking about how I can use the awesome new imperial veterans expansion...

2 x Tie Deffender - Glaive pilot + tie/D + Flachette cannon + TIE mk.II + Addeptablity

1 x Tie Bomber - Scimitar pilot + tie shuttle + Mara Jade + Rebel captives + Engine upgrade

I expect this list will be more annoying than competitive. There are probably too many points poured into the Scimitar but think that the EU could just get it into the right place to use Mara or get out of some fire lines.

Anyway would be good to hear others thoughts. Thanks

Could be good fun.

As you say, not so much on the competitive side but opponents will be reluctant to shoot at the bomber - especially if they're going to get a Flechette to the face as well and find themselves unable to shed the stress.

Let me know how it gets on, always wanted to run some sort of stress-list with the imperials (closest I've come is putting Mara and Rebel Captive on a Decimator).

Fletchette cannons kinda suck since you can't stack stress.

Yeah, the fact that you can only doll out stress if they aren't already is a bit weak. But you still get a three red attack that will potentially do one damage, without range modifiers, and then your three red primary attack. And that is x2 if you can get both defenders focus firing on the same ship.

I alway think when making a squad list 'would I like to fly against this?' Well this one I wouldn't

Hope to try it out against a scum list later this week. Guess I'll find out if I ever want to fly it again after that

I'd upgrade the Flechettes to Ion Cannons and drop the EU. Ion + Stress is a deadly combination on any ship, and the Bomber doesn't really need the EU since it has low pilot skill anyway. You could use the remaining two points the upgrade the Glaives' EPTs to Crack Shots and/or bump one of them up to Vessery.

Nice suggestions DeathToJarJar. I may well drop the EU for the Ion Cannons and then think on what to spend those 2 remaining points on...

Well you could always replace adaptability with VI to use up the remaining points. Then they would be on the level with the likes of Poe, Omega Leader and the Inquisitor.

You also could take an ion and a tractor beam. Throwing ships into debris/asteroids is a good way to add extra stress or deny actions.

Ok so what about - 2x Tie Defender - Glaive pilot + Ion Cannon + VI + TIE mkII + tie/d

Tie Bomber - Scimitar pilot + Tie shuttle + Mara Jade + Rebel Captive

The bomber flys forward, blocks plus stresses. The Defenders move in, ionising and then hammering with 3-4 red dice while keeping their target flying in a nice straight line, ready to get stressed, ionised and blasted again next turn.

Almost seems a bit mean. Almost

I think the Glaive pilots are just begging to have one upgraded to Vessery. For 1 point, the pilot ability is just phenomenal, all the more so with the TIE/D. You could do Long Range Scanners on the bomber to help with that too. Edit: derp, you can't have LRS as you give up the torp/missile slots.

The TIE/Ds (other than Vessery) are rather crying out for Predator as that'll work for each shot.

I might be tempted to swap out the rebel captive (I imagine the TIE/Ds will catch plenty of heat over an ordinance-less bomber). Tactician, fleet officer, weapons engineer might all be more worthwhile.
