biggs vs uboat

I have a question.

If Biggs is out of arc on a jumper master with deadeye can the jump master choose to fire a torp and because Biggs is out of arc simply ignore his ability?

I believe the FAQ essentially states that you first pick a target, then you pick a weapon to hit that target with.

So if you can target Biggs, you must target Biggs... And therefore must pick a weapon with which to target Biggs with.

No.

If Biggs is not in arc at the right range for the torp, but is within R1 of someone who is, the JM MUST target Biggs. You only get to ignore Biggs' ability if you have no way of targetting him at all, i.e. you are shooting with a weapon that cannot hit him where he currently sits.

I'm 99.9% sure he would even force you to use a Hot Shot Blaster if you had one and he wasn't in arc, if you chose to shoot at all.

Basically your choice is always 'shoot Biggs or his allies not at range 1 of Biggs, if you can shoot Biggs at all. If you can't shoot Biggs at all or none of his allies is at range 1 of him, shoot who you want with whatever weapons you want.'

From the FAQ:

Biggs Darklighter
"If the attacker has more than one weapon available, it must use a weapon that can target Biggs Darklighter, if possible, instead of any other ship at Range 1 of Biggs Darklighter."
(Hot shot is a secondary weapon, again from the FAQ, so it falls in that cathegory)

However this only works for ships within R1 of Biggs. If another ship is able to be targeted, and is outside of R1 of Biggs, that ship can be targeted.
