For everyone going on about how important it is to follow the rules, and how the TO was in the right...

I hope you're all using those critical hit tokens in your games. If not, I hope that you all retro-actively disqualify yourselves and return any prizes you may have earned.

All the time. Helps me remember and I ask my opponent if I can place mine next to them if they don'thave them. Not seeing the argument.

Also, not seeing anyone getting mad when asked to put one on the table either, so again, point?

its not the not following of rules (because, really, most people don't follow the more obscure rules), its the unneccessary opposing the TO when all thats needed is "Oh right, I guess its in the rules, if stupid". To be honest if a TO or an opponent were to ask me to use crit markers I'd be gratefull for them giving me something to remember the crit.

Way to miss the point there.

Why would people NOT use them?

I always do and insist my opponent does as well.

Yes, I usually do, because I've forgotten crits in the past that mattered and felt really bad about it. And even if I didn't at a certain point, I'd have no problem at all doing so on request.

I certainly wouldn't verbally abuse a TO to the point I got kicked out of a tournament then sell my collection if asked to do so.

As someone who has both TO'd SC level events and played in them; I can't understand the problem here. Surely you should have just complied with the TO, who no doubt would rather have been playing than putting a lot of time and effort into being spoken to so disrespectfully for doing their job? A job without which there would be no tournament in the first place? I've had people question or even argue a point with me whilst TO'ing, however, no one - NO ONE - has ever thrown a hissy fit once I've shown them the appropriate bit in the rule book or FAQ. They usually say something like "Oh, I'm sorry. I genuinely didn't realise that.". What the OP argued about with the TO was in the rules, that's a fact. Challenging the TO to throw you out as the only way to do their job/enforce a rule in the rule book led you you're feelings of bitterness.

I myself have made stupid mistakes at tournaments and my first Armada tournament was an absolute massacre mostly down to me forgetting triggers or upgrades I had in my list. Not the TO or my opponents fault. Only mine. Part of being an adult is learning how to take responsibility for your actions and this seems to be a poor attempt at scapegoating. It's a shame you can't find it within yourself to realise where the fault lies OP but the choice to rage quit is yours alone.

Can't imagine that there could actually be one. I don't know what he came here expecting, but I'm betting it wasn't an entire community saying "you f**ed-up, bro". Best thing he can do at this point is to take his lumps in silence and hope he gets top dollar for his collection.

That reminds me, need to check ebay...

Not only is what the OP did a perfect example of not flying casual, he comes here and lies about what happened to try and turn everyone against the TO.

Which makes the OP a prime example of what some of us call militant casual... But on to the real point of my post.

I'll offer 2 bags of skittles, regular and tropical, and a bag of regular m&m's.

On the one hand Ewwww mixing skittles and M&M's sounds nasty.

But it reminds of the Imperial Assault store championship. One guy there brings a couple bags of skittles with and instead of damage tokens you use skittles to track damage. When a model heals or dies you have to eat the damage. Was quite a fun way to do things.

Of course you use the crit tokens... The snazzy initiative token however....

I remember this one time my GF reminded me to reset my trip odometer after filling up with gas so I dumped her and sold the car and now only take the bus...

I'll buy your stuff. $100.00

$120 and a bag of skittles.
Hmm, that's tempting. Throw in a hug?

Edit

Oh wait I see two bags of skittles on the table.

Do I hear 3?

a hug? That would be inappropriate.

There's nothing inappropriate about a good old fashioned hug.

So long as the recipient can see it coming.

You've just reminded me I've never used the initiative token!

I hang my head in shame :(

If anyone needs me I'll be in the corner sobbing.

don't look at me

DON'T LOOK AT ME

My mother didn't raise me right.

OK....I have to say it.

If the tournament scene is bringing you down.....you don't have to sell your stuff. There is more to X-wing than tournaments.

There is more to X-wing than tournaments.

While I agree completely... I think everyone should try a tournament once just to see if they like it or not, and then if they don't, or even if they do. They should take part in the smorgasbord of X-Wing. Take a helping of Epic, try a mission on the side, go back and get a new plate full of HotAC...

X-Wing has a lot to offer besides tournaments.

But in this case, given the reaction of the OP I think playing casual games or some sort of campaign would likely be less enjoyable with them involved.
