First tourney showing

By Raven19528, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Showing up for my first tournament, and trying to figure out what list to bring. Have it narrowed down to 3, looking for advice on which one to take.

I don't have an extensive collection, I have the raider but no Rebel huge ship packs. But if you can see tweaks, please let me know.

Again, I have some stuff, but not as much as I'd like. Please let me know which would be better, and any small tweaks you may see.

Thank you.

So I ended up using CTB (which stands for Can't Touch Biggs) and won 2 of 2. I didn't face any triple jumps, but I did go against a rebel T-65 ordinance squad (Biggs, Wedge, Wes). His green dice were very cold, and my red dice were above average.

I like the list a lot, though I really think I'll struggle against triple jumps right now. The more traditional R4 Biggs will help with that, but then I lose protection quick against swarms, and Garvin isn't in a lot of top tier lists for a reason. Keyan always lays some hurt, and Rage allows for a lot of 4 hit shots from him. He's self-sufficient when Biggs dies as well, so I'm not sure how I can adjust the list to play well against U-boats but also against Aces. I think that's the overarching Rebel dilemma right now though.

I did play a casual game with JLG. I learned to fly Jan away from the rest of them, as she was targeted and burned fast. I also found that the VCX-100, while maneuverable, is sometimes too fast for its own good. A 5K covers a lot of ground, and especially when the enemy is likely to be doing the same, well, we ended up out of range, which had my A-wing take the punishment, and next thing I knew, it was down to a Ghost vs. the entire enemy force. I learned a lot, but I think I'm going to change up the build a bit in order to maximize the strengths I saw, and try to mitigate some weaknesses.

VCX-100: Lothal Rebel (35)

Plasma Torpedoes (3)

Fire Control System (2)

Tactical Jammer (1)

· Hera Syndulla (1)

· Dash Rendar (2)

HWK-290: · Jan Ors (25)

Draw Their Fire (1)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

Stealth Device (3)

· R2-D2 (4)

Z-95 Headhunter: Tala Squadron Pilot (13)

Cluster Missiles (4)

Guidance Chips (0)

This build is designed to have Jan run behind while the Z-95 and Lothal charge into the fray. Jan's ability should help in the initial charge quite a bit, allowing for more red to be thrown. Picking one target to take off the board in the initial pass should be goal number one. It's unlikely they'll be able to throw enough dice to take out the Lothal in the first pass, and if they go for the Tala instead, I feel that's a win. Jan with Stealth behind the Lothal should be a pretty unappealing target, so it should help her survive longer. However if I drop the Stealth, I can throw the GSP back in.

Any thoughts?

how do you do with Jan and R2? usually Jan gets focused down first in my experience which means R2 could be a liability, Draw their Fire is definately a killer. I don't know that you want Jan that close to the action to be honest.

I've since changed it to have Biggs in the list, which then allows Jan to really shine with the DtF/R2 setup. Only one game so far, but 100-0 win. I'm liking it so far, but want at least 9 more games to make a really good analysis with it.
