Any Rebel Meta Competitive Lists?

By Zeodra, in X-Wing Squad Lists

We have crackshot a wings, dash and vcx, and Biggs,Wes, and another. Any other Rebel Meta lists?

What do you mean? Do you mean lists that you should bear in mind as likely opponents when building your own (i.e. meta) or lists that can do well in the current meta? The answer to the first might be no, the second, yes.

Biggs + wes + another isn't really competitive as much as it's won a scattered regional or two. In cases such as those, you can probably point to the player's contribution moreso than the list's overall power

The crackshot As are also similar in that regard, but unlike X-wings they come with very efficient upgrades (namely crackshot and thrusters) and an "easy" (conceptually) game-plan against the meta threats of jumpmasters (PS 4 crackshots) and palp aces (A-wings, man; block)

otherwise, hell if I know

rebels can build very easily to steamroll over either side of the meta (conners and stress for aces, PS 4+ ordnance for jumpmasters), but if you run into the opposite match-up things become a massive problem

I made top 4 of Toronto regionals yesterday with:

K-Wing: •Miranda Doni (45)

Guidance Chips (0)

•C-3PO (3)

Homing Missiles (5)

Extra Munitions (2)

Twin Laser Turret (6)

X-Wing: •Biggs Darklighter (26)

Integrated Astromech (0)

•R4-D6 (1)

Attack Shuttle: •Ezra Bridger (28)

Elusiveness (2)

Autoblaster Turret (2)

•Chewbacca (4)

Total: 99/100

I think rebels need either biggs or crazy amounts of hull points right now.

I've seen a fair number of people using Kanan with double rec spec screening Biggs. Then you can add a shuttle, accuracy corrector, and autoblaster turret for the 4 autodamage at R1 or Enhanced Scopes so that you always get the double focus off for damage mitigation. I've also seen people using tactician and TLT on a VCX to pump out stress. I think two VCX with FCS and ABT along with a blocker Awing could work well - leaves you with a few points for crew. Besides 5x Crack Awings most competitive lists I see involve the VCX.

I generally agree with your assessment, but let's analyze this a bit more. I have tested the squad (with Corran) quite a bit now because i wanted to know if it can really compete.

- Biggs, Wes, Corran/Poe/Wedge is actually an excellent matchup vs Whisper/Omega Palp aces. The only chance the PalpAces player really has is to wait for a maneuvering mistake on the Rebel side, or engage on a turn where Rebels had to break formation or where Biggs had to K-Turn. In any other case i saw Whisper die miserably against 2-3 PS10 3-4 dice attacks. From that stage on, Empire just lacks the firepower and even maneuvrability to fight back! Omega literally has to lock on to Biggs if he still lives in order to push damage, and thus Corran and Wes just crush him. Luckily i have started to see more and more Whisper lists in my area lately.

- Against Soontir/Inquisitor Palpmobile it's more of a mixed bag of feelings. Soontir is still very hard to breach and sometimes despite Wes and double stress and anything you throw at him he won't go down in time. On other occasions you manage to block him with Biggs or double stress him and he crumbles early, and then it' mop-up duty for the Rebels. But i still think of this as a pretty weak matchup for the Rebel squad.

- Against U-Boats the squad has surprised me in a positive way. I thought i would get murdered, but then i managed to deny one Jumpy to fire its torps completely thanks to Wes before dying, and Biggs survived too long for the Jumpys to be able to win the fight afterwards. The problem actually is less the torps than getting blocked constantly. It is hard to avoid and the 3-dice R1 attacks will eventually kill X-Wings. I think if you know your strenghts as the Rebel Squad and use them correctly, you can come out ahead. If the enemy is not used to playing against this squad your chances further improve.

- Against Dash/Lothal it's really difficult! You have no Autothrusters, get too few shots against too many HP usually and tend to get outdamaged. Perhaps that i have not yet found the right approach against this list, but it seems rather unfavorable.

- Against Crack-A's or other Crackswarms i have not yet played it, but it seems like a difficult matchup in theory. Your firepower and health pool are limited and they have a huge alphastrike. If you can't kill at least 2 before Biggs dies, you're in bad shape i would say.

- I have also not played vs. The Wampa/Inquisitor/Omega PalpAces yet, but Wampa needs to go at least before Biggs, or you risk losing Corran too fast. Other than that i think this can go both ways.

I've seen a fair number of people using Kanan with double rec spec screening Biggs. Then next game you play U-Boats and just get sealclubbed by torps, end of story!

This is the problem i can see. It's a decent list and fun to play, but not a top list!
