Defender Builds + Omega Leader?

By Rinzler in a Tie, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Suggestions, please...

Really happy with these Defender builds, so pretend those have to stay - how would you fill the remaining 23 points? And is this minimalist OL viable?

TIE Defender: · Rexler Brath (37)

Rage (1)

Flechette Cannon (2)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/D (0)

TIE Defender: · Countess Ryad (34)

Push The Limit (3)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/x7 (-2)

TIE/fo Fighter: · "Omega Leader" (21)

Juke (2)

Was thinking perhaps a Munitions Bomber, instead? Like so:

TIE Bomber: Gamma Squadron Veteran (19)

Deadeye (1)

Plasma Torpedoes (3)

Guidance Chips (0)

I'm ready to rock this list. Seems fun and brutal. Lots of reliance on three (mostly naked) greens, though.

Revisited. Doesn't hit as hard but the stress game is strong. The play is start clustered then separate for late game or the complete opposite. Either way, you have at 9 reds incoming - Which when I typed that sounds a lot worse than I had anticipated.. But the upside is you have, what, 21 hull/shield with great maneuvers.

TIE Defender: · Rexler Brath (37)

Rage (1)

Tractor Beam (1)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/D (0)

TIE Defender: · Countess Ryad (34)

Push The Limit (3)

Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)

TIE/x7 (-2)

Lambda-Class Shuttle: · Captain Yorr (24)

Vessery works reall y well with OL.

If you want to rock Omega Leader, Vessery is not only the go-to Defender, it's one of his best partners.

If you're focused on Rexler, I'd drop Ryad. Posted a few days ago on a Rex-based topic:

Rexler Brath (37):

  • Rage (1)
  • Tractor Beam (1)
  • Twin Ion Engine Mk. II (1)
  • TIE/D (0)

Total: 40 pts

The Inquisitor (25):

  • Push The Limit (3)
  • Proton Rockets (3)
  • Autothrusters (2)
  • TIE/v1 (1)

Total: 34 pts

Captain Yorr (24):

  • Systems Officer (2)

Total: 26 pts

This. I really like that build. Rage seems a cool way to get both the re-rolls and the focus to trigger Brath's ability. Never thought of the Yorr combo. Has anyone tried it already?

Another thing I've been thinking for a while... If Yorr does a green maneuvre and gives Inquisitor a TL thanx to Sistems Officer... May I proceed with the free evade action, and trigger PTL for another action, then clear stress on a green move, and do my normal action? That would open a lot of combos!

Is it correct?

Above build is awesome. Especially the cool thingy with quizzy.

Yes, it has been tried. I wasn't the one who flew the list, only saw it in action. And it was plastic porn.

And yes, your train of thought is correct.

Yorr is actually the centerpiece that glues the list. He absorbs Rex's Rage and passes TL for either Rex (if he needs downtime) or Quizzy (for PTL shenanigans). He also helps a lot if you feel any of the other two will be blocked. But, to fly this list, you must really know your Lambda and put it to masterful use.

Vessery, TIE/D, ion, crack shot, Mk II (40)

Ryad, TIE/x7, outmaneuver, Mk II (36)

OL, juke, Mk II (24)

Or if you're not as big as having lots of green spots on your dial, you can drop all three Mk II upgrades to put Comm Relay on OL.

I play it by jousting with Vess with OL as backup for the TL. Ryad moves in from the side. I play expecting Vess to die, so I basically use him as a hammer to take as many ships with him as possible, then use Ryad to finish off any stragglers.

Awesome! I played the shuttle for sth like 30 games before moving on to try new things... But I really want to try that list. Though I think I'll drop prockets (sucks to lose them... Maybe drop MK2?) for EB on Yorr, and a 2p bid against enemy's OLs, Inqs, Etc

I just started writing a list not too long ago. I'll be giving it a spin later this week!

Rexler Brath
Predator
TIE/D
Tractor Beam
TIE mk.II
-42

Tomax Bren
Crack Shot
TIE Shuttle
TIE mk.II
Fleet Officer
Systems Officer
-31

Omega Leader
Juke
Comm Relay
-26

Kinda sucks to drop Prockets, but I get the point.

Do not, however, drop Mk. II. You need it for stress-clearing whenever you can't count on Yorr and Rex needs to keep his options open.

The thing I don't like about Juke OL sans Relay is that you are committed to evade every turn, since you don't want to spend the target lock you don't really have anyway to overcome any kind of lousy dice. OL is awesome but his ability does nothing if you can't get any damage on the board in the first place, also you don't have to option to Barrel roll into potential R1 for a bonus die either.

I'm just saying I would probably choose another EPT for him if you aren't going to equip Comms...

Yeah. Losing prockets is sad. Mostly because with the systems officer combo you can TL, Evade, PTL for a Focus, and after your green maneuvre, you can get closer by boosting into R1, probably unexpected... And also, after you've succesfully hit 5 times woth a procket, your love for them reaches the highest of levels

I quite like the following list.

37 Vessery (35), Tie/D title (0), Tractor beam (1), Veteran Instincts (1)

36 Ryad (34), Tie/x7 title (-2), Push the Limit (3), Mk2 Engine (1)

26 Omega Leader (21), Juke (2), Comms Relay (3)

99 Total

VI puts Vess at PS8 which is handy as he can shoot before OL if you wish and everyone in the squad can get the benefit of his Tractor Beam. Ryad flies about with triple action economy. She will normally take a Focus and get a free Evade from /x7. For her 2nd action she can either paint another target with a TL for Vess or Barrel roll as needed.

OL is OL and does what OL does best. ;)

It's a beaut of a list. I'll be trying what I hope to be a beastly list with Tomax in place of Ryad. But your list will be my second to see how it compares.

Vess juke title

ryad ptl title mk2

OL juke comm SD

unbeatable 3ship with evade each Turn with at least 3green dice and OL block modification. Each ship has TL and Focus....better than palpDefenders in my opinion
