Is it possible that....

Is it possible that some of the ships (pilots) and upgrades are designed specifically for the Epic format of game play? I have a few ideas of what I think but I'm interested if people think so and which ones?

I don't know about non-Epic ships and upgrades being designed specifically for Epic play, but there are at least a few that work better in Epic than normal play, just by coincidence. Etahn A'baht is a good example, because his ability scales with the number of allied ships on the board. Roark Garnet is also interesting - letting your Tantive IV take all its shots at PS 12 can be quite powerful.

Huge ship only and anything related to energy sure are ;)

It makes some amount of sense, mid level aces thrive there.

Upgrades that come with Epic ships sure thrive within the format, however, I'd be hard pressed to find many outside of that can thrive in Epic any more than they do in standard play. Weapons Engineer is the one that comes to mind with the new tubes.

I'd venture to say Fel's Wrath, Leebo, Eaden Vrill, Graz the Hunter, Jek Porkins and Krassis Trelix all see as limited play in Epic than the do in standard.

Is it possible that things get designed specifically for epic play?

Please make your title more informative when possible.

Now to answer your question:

NO, it is not possible that.... BECAUSE IT ISN'T ASKING WHAT.

I expected intelligent readers to be able to have enough common sense to know that of course Huge ships and their upgrades are meant for Epic play. Ever seen one in a 100 pt match?

Specifically, not exclusively.

Point's wise it's easy to fit a Gozanti into a 100 point game, the others not so much.

Also I think with it's size, the Gozanti is the smallest of the Epic ships,

and thus also not the most crazy to use in regular play.

I'd like to eventually when I buy one, to fiend it in a friendly game of non-epic,

simply to let me get used to it's abilities and it's pro's and con's..

:)

I'd also like to see epic used in the competitions.

Possible, but there's none that stand out. The best ones were accidents, after all. (Jonus and Biggs)

Actually I have had several outstanding instances of success flying Eden Vrill + Dash Rendar (crew) + "Mangler" + Engine Upgrade in Epic.

Anything with the capability to hit more than one target becomes more valuable in Epic play than in Standard format, simply for the fact that there will be far more things on the board. as for them being specifically design for that, I dont think so. Though I wouldn't be against some expansions coming out with small ships that might have a card in them giving sort of support aspects to epic scale ships.

I just dont think Epic play is quite different enough, barring the epic scale ships, to really warrant things being designed too differently than they are from standard play. It just happens that with more everything on the field, some things that may not be good against ace 100pt lists become a bit more useful when there's more things to shoot at.

This would be awesome and tip the scales back to balanced to have epic upgrades in a $20 pack instead of standard ones in a $90 one. I'm in favor of any epic support though, I want more huge ships.

Boba Fett is absolutely magnificent in EPIC!

:D

I'm not convinced some pilots are designed just for Epic, but not every upgrade and pilot is designed to thrive in the 100 points dogfight competitive scene.

I am convinced everything ( everything obviously not designed for EPIC-only , duh :P ) was designed for 100 point dogfights, and FFG just ****** some of them up in a way that made them work better in epic

but apart from Assault Missiles, I'm not really certain which pieces exactly fit the mold.

there is something to be said for normally horrendously janky synergy working hilariously well with epic ships. Since they pack so much firepower onto a single model, you can skyrocket the value of someone like Jonus or Roark if you have a huge ship to babysit

not to say Roark isn't already pretty decent in 100 points (when people bother to remember he exists). Jonus, though...yeah, definitely more of an epic pick

Don't bash people new to the forums, that's elitist.

God, I hate literally everyone on this forum I swear to god. I posted a thread about how awful the squad list forum was because everyone had a vague thread title in it that didn't tell you what the list actually was, and I actually had people arguing with me.
