Guidance Chips, Tactician, Cluster Missiles, and Imperial Kath Scarlet's ability

By ParaGoomba Slayer, in X-Wing

So Guidance Chips on a 3 attack ship can convert a die to a crit.

Tactician at range 2 is handing out a stress twice with Cluster Missiles.

At range 1, if you roll a crit with Autoblaster, it gets canceled first. So crits with Autoblaster are actually desirable or at least okay.

So at range 2 with Cluster missiles, if they cancel a crit on the first attack, they get a stress. Then you can guidance chips for the second attack for another crit. With Tactician that's a potential for 4 stress. If they close to range one then you can hit them with Autoblaster, and crits give them stress or you get regular hits and get autodamage.

Are Imperial Firesprays good yet?

Make it Slave 1 and add Flechettes for range 3 stress.

Guidance Chips are once per round. You can't use them on both shots from Cluster Missiles.

Guidance Chips only works on the first attack of two with Cluster Missiles.

edit: ninja'd!

So that's +11 points (AB 5, Clusters 4, Tactician 2, GC 0) for 49 point Kath. Throw on Deadeye for 1 point (50), and the Slave 1 title to get either Extra Munitions (52) or a Proton Torpedo (54) -- the latter gives the option to do a multi-crit strike at range 3 and have a chance of landing both a stress and a crit.

Pricey, but groan-worthy if you pull off the three-stress cluster strike. I say you try it out next week.

That's not terrible...it may even be good.

You know the drawbacks of being PS7 and having to get someone into arc to pull of that great combo.

Put a mangler on Kath for cheaper and easier results that work for every front arc shot the entire game.

Flechette Torpedoes would be better off as Extra Munitions. Err, maybe. It's almost automatically 2 stress on something, one from a crit and one from the innate stress if the crit is canceled. Since they're double stressed, then that sets you up to Autoblaster or range 2 cluster missiles for tactician. So Flechette Torpedoes are an option, perhaps better than EM.

Deadeye accomplishes little when you can get to PS 9 with VI.

Guidance Chips can be used for one of the attacks. If one of your attacks naturally crits, then you can GC the crit for the next attack.

It's not as stressing but a 48 point Imperial Kath with Slave I, Deadeye, EM, Recon Specialist, Guidance Chips, and Concussion Missiles. She'll have around a 95% chance of getting 4 hits (with at least one crit) and over a 99% chance of getting more than 3. Anyone that avoids all that damage will get a stress token as a reward.

still abhorrently expensive at a base level with no defensive tech or re-positioning; only an aux arc to crutch on

at that point cost and given the utter lack of reliability on unmoded (apart from one g-chip trigger) cluster missiles, you're looking at a hilariously expensive anti-ace ship. At that point, might as well roll Deathrain conners for (Somehow) far less cost and far more effect (i.e, actual damage! in addition to action denial)

Or a DeciVader.

yeah but that's so boring <_<

But it ignores green dice. How are you not behind this?

expensive as HELL in this config.

I've been tweaking something in the same vein. I like Krassis and clusters with chips for rerolls-a-go-go, and mara jade or rebel captive for stress. its.... decent.

I have to tell you, your shameless promotion of Dethrain is causing me great issue. I am a linear thinker/planner and I haven't mastered (to my metal hang-up needs) the Bomber and probably will not until a week or two after I finally get Veterans. Then, I'm moving to......so stop causing me stress, hahaha.

Death rain will deny actions but never cause stress :P

Well,aybe with thermals

Most fun pilot in the game IMO

We have a local player that runs a pretty nasty Kath + Tactician alongside a Oicunn+Vader + RC. It's fairly nasty.

So you could run this 52 point Kath with a 44 point Buzzsaw Whisper and a 4 point initiative bid.

4 points for double conners? Eh, eh? You know you want to ficklegreendice...

Don't think thats as solid as your "boost-wing to the max!"-list. But I would have been wrong looking at the surface of that one, too, so i guess it warrants at least some test runs.
