Poe;R5-P9,Autotrusters. 2 x Prototype pilots;proton rockets. 2x Bandit Squadrons. The idea is to joust with Poe, taking hits, and then fly away to regen. The a wings will release their proton rockets and the swarm will block for Poe to come around again. Could this build be competitive? What builds would be difficult for this list to face?
Poe's Swarm
U-boats might be tricky. They are PS3 and will fire before the Prototypes and Bandits. With 3 fully modified torpedo shots, there is a good chance they will wipe Poe off the board on turn 2 and they can clean up your smaller ships at their leisure. Maybe you can do well with the Prototypes as blockers but the U-boats have a surprisingly flexible dial so don't always go where you expect them to.
Imperial Aces may be tricky too as they will run rings around your lower PS ships. A Procket in the face will be bad for Soontir's health but your chances of catching him in arc and range 1 and not great.
Maybe a better option is to go for Blount with Tracers and some Talas with homing missiles. That will potentially give you a threat to Aces in the opening joust and give you enough firepower to knock out 1 U-boat before it fires. You lose the blocking ability there though so not sure at all. The other option is to ditch the Prockets and keep the A-wings as cheap as possible but put Autothrusters on them to keep them alive.
I don't like the Prockets on the Prototype A-wings because it will be really heard to get them in arc at range 1 of pretty much anything. Using them as blockers would be the way to go, dropping Proton Rockets for Chardaan Refit on both would free up 10 points for you to put into the other ships in your list. Maybe even drop down to one Prototype to use as a blocker and add another Z95. You could bump up the Z's to Talas and then they would fire before Contracted Scouts, with your ordinance of choice this could be pretty effective.
