Future Tractor Beam

Tractor beam. So we have all read the rules. Seems interesting as you actually get to move your opponent so I am interested to see how that works now that I have one and have an appropriate ship to use it on. One gripe is that this does not work on large ships. Now don’t get me wrong I don’t want a T/D pulling around the Outrider, Ghost or JM5K across the board that would be silly.

What I would suggest is “if you fire against a large base ship the attacker may perform a barrel roll or straight boost action°

I can justify this as in the books the tractor beam is used to “anchor” the TIE defender allowing it to achieve a tighter turning circle.

Also I’m suggesting this as something to look at for the future as I generally like the way FFG goes back and fixes things later like the defender rather than making them OP from the start and nerfing later. Anyone seeing any massive problems with this idea?

My guess is that if that were to be a mechanic it'd still just apply to small-based ships if the Defender is used as an example.

The Lancer that's coming out is going to feature some method for making tractor beam tokens persistent as well as to create conditions where tokens can be applied more easily, so I imagine that it will end up becoming constricted in terms of general buffs out of fear of further buffing the Lancer, assuming that its interactions with the tractor beam are adequately powerful enough.

dear god that would be hilarious on defenders lol...

I would like if the ruling would be amended to include something similar to this: "…when the second tractor beam token is assigned to a large base ship, the opposing player chooses one effect - barrel roll or boost that ship…"

This could be elegant and simple.
