What's Your Point!?! -Wave IV Edition

By Vykes, in Star Wars: Armada

Welcome to the first official iteration of What's Your Point!?! It's a little companion to Lochlan's Liberty Point Cost thread. What's Your Point!?! is the natural progression of our regularly scheduled speculation thread and in no ways hopes to curtail that vaunted cultural gaming experience!

So, think you got swagger? Heard the inside scoop? Mathematical prodigy? Claim your numbers, your two ship versions, and for the trifecta, our newest ships' speeds! Speak up for the record and we'll see who has the right to say 'I told you so'! More than one person can take the same numbers of course, it's your guess!

Interdictor

Hey, if you've got an idea for a wager or a question, I'm all ears. So, ready to sign on the dotted line and stake your claim?

+++UPDATE+++

Congrats to everyone for not getting the Interdictor's points right :P

But well done to Caldias, Jukey, ItzSteve, Amanal, TheCactusMan, Pasewi, JP82729, CaribbeanNinja, JPersons73, and Ficklegreendice for nailing the speed.

Sorry Ianediger, mate, looks like they wanted to go the whole nine yards for Speed 2.

+++UPDATE II+++

Well well, we got a lot closer results on our guesses for the Liberty didn't we?

GhostDancer, Caldais, and myself picked out the right version and cost for the version A while ItzStev and BladeWing24 got the cost but not the version.

Cynanbloodbane nailed the cost for our shiny new Battle Cruiser but couldn't quite nail the version!

And for the speeds, GammonLord, Ginkapo, Lyraeus, Nebulon B, Gamir, Sanguinary Dan, Kiwi Rat, Ghost Dancer, puntspeedchunk, Brobafett, Siizon, Swusn, ItzSteve, Amanal, Pasewi, Ficklegreendice, BladeWing24, and Rythbryt all got it!

Special recognition goes to GhostDancer for getting 2 out of 3 right! And to Ginkapo for getting one off of both Version A and Version B, 1 point too much for both!

Some really close guesses and great work people!

Put me down for:

Liberty, Speed 2, Version A is 96 and Version B is 104

My reasoning for the points is I think it would be broken to be able to fit four of them in a list, so with cheapest commander, so 96 is the cheapest it could possibly be imho. And I am guessing speed 2 since that's what I think it will probably be.

Interdictor, Speed 2, Version B is 90 (supressor) and Version A is 83

Just a guess here, no rhyme or reason other than thinking there is no way it could be more expensive than 90 points.

Edited by Caldias

Interdictor, Version B (suppressor) is 90 and speed 1. Version A is 87 and speed 2. The first ship with differing speeds.

Let's not reinvent the wheel entirely:

From the preview article:

After all, the InterdictorSuppression Refit costs you five fleet points more than the most expensive basic Victory-class Star Destroyer, theVictory II.

Everything's up and accounted for.

Yep Vergilius, we knew the suppressor is 85+5 points (also a reason why the 90 space is so big), but is that the less expensive version, or more expensive? That's the question.

Close, vykes. Suppressor (b) is speed 1, and version a is speed 2.

-laughs- you can prove nothing, ianediger :P Fixed it. Interesting, more expensive and slower.

Everything's up and accounted for.

That makes sense. Have some fun with it!

Interdictor- A- 81. B- 90. speed 2 for both. Single knuckle on both

Liberty- A- 108. B- 118. Speed 2 for both. Single knuckle at one, single knuckle at two, none at one.

Gotcha Jukey!

Exactly Vergilius! 'Tis all for fun and my guesses are always pretty terrible :P So, got a guess for us mate?

I think 90 is the more expensive version. I'm going to say 81

Interdictor- A- 85. B- 92. speed 2/ both. Speed 1- 1 click, Speed 2- 1-1
Liberty- A- 96. B- 104. Speed 3/both. Speed 1- 1 click, Speed 2- 0-1, Speed 3- 0-1-1

Interdicter - Combat Refit (A) 82 (Suppressor) - Speed 2

Interdicter - 87

MC80 Battle Cruiser 120 Speed 3

MC80 Carrier (Liberty) 128

Pure guess!!

I'm going to say the Interdictor Combat Refit is a crazy-low 76 points, and further, I'm going to say that the Suppression Refit has TWO Experimental Retrofits to justify the cost. Speed 2 for both.

Liberty Class Destroyer: The Battle Cruiser clocks in at 102 points and the more expensive version is 112 points with blue AS dice and a Defensive Retrofit.

My guesses:

MC80 Liberty: A 102 points, B 107 points. Speed 3.

Interdictor: A 78 points, B 86 points. Speed 2.

Bonus guesses: Moff Jerjerrod as the Imperial commander with the Interdictor. In the Liberty expansion... I don't know. Bail Organa? I don't think he ever commanded a space battle. Let's say General Tantor, a character so minor she barely exists.

General Madine was confirmed in the preview already for the Liberty, and you can see his card in the top right of the fan.

A day before the Wave 4 preview, there was talk about character art from Lost Stars being done specifically for Armada, for Ciena Ree who eventually took command of a Star Destroyer in the books. Many people are speculating that it will be her.

Though a few (including myself) hope that Grand Admiral Thrawn is finally introduced. Thrawn specifically made extensive use of Interdictors in the Heir to the Empire book trilogy.

peculating that it will be her.

Plus the Rumour that Thrawn will be coming to Rebels, by David Filoni putting up a copy of the Thrawn Trilogy on his Twitter and stating "Sometimes there is Truth in legends"... The Reveal of which will probably be revealed Mid-July, at the Star Wars Celebration in Europe, where he will be presenting like, the first 4 Episodes of Rebels Season 3 or something...

Righto mates, everything's tallied up to current.

I do like those bonus guesses Pasewi, I haven't a clue where to start with the bonus characters but I'm really very intrigued by who they could be. As Cactus said, we know about Madine, but there's still quite a few 'who's who' left. I mean, we could still have a rebel named officer (that second card on the left has potential I suppose), and the Imperials are missing their Interdictor Admiral. Admittedly, while I'm happy to see Tagg, I didn't have a blue-fething-clue who Airen Cracken was until yesterday.

I'm in the prickly Cactus Camp, I'd like to see Thrawn, maybe with an Immobilizer 418 given that the Interdictor isn't the 'Immobilizer/ Interdictor-cruiser 418', and a cheaper Speed 2 light gunned 'experimental refit hog' could still be possible sometime. But that's baseless supposition! IE, fodder for a post Wave IV, pre Wave V release What's Your Point!?! :P

Interdictor A - 77

Interdictor B - 88

Speed 2 for both. (speed 1 - 1 click, speed 2 1-1)

Liberty A - 101

Liberty B - 113

Speed 2 for both. (speed 1 - 2 clicks, speed 2 1-1)

Whoops. Good on everyone for remembering Madine. I've been so spoiled by the sudden influx of Armada news that I took him for granted and was already lumping him in with the old guard.

I'm hoping for Leia and Han as commanders, but the Liberty doesn't quite feel thematic for them. Leia could be in a new trilogy expansion, as the General of the Resistance.

My Interdictor guesses:

Suppression Retrofit better be 90. :)

Combat Retrofit = 78

Speed = 2

Interdictor

A = 80
B = 90

Speed 2

Liberty Class

A = 110
B = 120

Speed 2

Edited by jpersons73

man, interdictor's difficult. Has a lot going for it, even though you want the base point to be relatively low to get use out of experimental stuff without overburdening the ship

edit: whoops it gets a support team for e-techs

probably speed 2 max (though speed 3 would be freaking hilarious)

If it allows easy double-arcing, then the Interdictor is just a beast so the turns on that thing will probably suck. Might be VSD levels of suck, actually

77 and 89

98 and 106 on the winged MC80; speed 3 as well (Specifically, assault frigate nav chart copy and pasted)

My Interdictor guesses:

Suppression Retrofit better be 90. :)

Combat Retrofit = 78

Speed = 2

Why would the combat version be less? Only reason I could think of is if it got 2 Officer upgrades and 2 Experimental upgrades. . . .

The Combat Refit is the ship shown on the base, and it can't possibly justify an 80-90 point investment even with the upgrades described. But a premium in place of taking a second Interdictor makes lots of sense for 90 points and also explains the second title.
