There's a growling behind you.

What's supposed to happen here in the Black Cave?

There's a growling behind you. Quickening your pace, you fail to notice a gaping pit obscured by the darkness. If you fail to pass a Luck (-1) check, draw the top gate marker, move to the first area of the Other World shown, and discard the gate marker, a process which causes you to be delayed.

The case in question: Gloria was on the Black Cave having just sealed that location the turn before. She had to stay there one more turn to defeat the monster on the location. She drew the above Kingsport card. Was she lost in some other inescapable other world or was the gate negated because of the seal?

She was lost. You're not actually "opening a Gate"; you're just drawing a destination from a hat and then throwing it away. The Elder Sign has nothing to block.

Down the rabbit hole, mageith!

Hello. This question actually brings up another question. Understanding how the gate process works. Say like this happens and the gate chosen was the abyss. So you are transported to the first area of the abyss. There are no open abyss gates on the board however. Does that mean that you immediatley get lost in time and space? Or is it possible that while you are there at the abyss, have your two encounters and are about to exit that a player draws an abyss gate which then gives you the opportunity to exit...how does this work? Thanks for your time.

You're not LiTaS until you are to "return to Arkham" and there are no open gates to the OW you're in (and you don't have Gate Box). Train Station has a similar(ish) encounter, except that you draw the top gate marker, go to that OW and then put the gate marker back on top of the gate stack, meaning the OW you went to will be the next gate to open.

Still didn't stop Jim Culver from being LiTaS though, as the next Mythos cards didn't open a new gate.

Excellent, very good indeed, thank you.

Actually that will be Emily Alice. She'll be very disappointed.
