Grand Inquisitor Preview

That seems broken af

Awesome. Can't wait to get this guy on the table.

Also can't wait to use Force Rush on Davith after he uses Vanish. And also fleet footed. 7 free movement points! :D

For 9 points it seems like he's gonna be an auto include for imps.

Has this always been a thing -- cleaving on ranged attacks? That design choice seems ... odd.

Loving the skirmish upgrade. Playable Kayn? Oh boy. He's the Summer OP kit promo with awesome art.

Hopefully Advanced Comm Systems helps Kayn and Sorin like the article thinks it will. Kayn is cool. Hopefully this makes him worth taking over two elite officers.

It's interesting that they included a skirmish upgrade that is completely unusable by the figure it's packaged with.

It's possible with Diala in Campaign through an expensive combo.

Another note, he will LOVE Wild Attack. Especially if he is focused. Five Dice, RRGGY, most often against BW defense, with a negated Dodge. Inquisitor brings the pain.

Ah yes, we had this discussion way back when over here.

I even created an image for it, though FFG made a nicer one :P

Still no mention of time periods, though it seems that the "Targeted by the Empire" agenda card clearly allows you to bring him in any campaign.

Dude, I love the Inquisitor! Very, very solid.

I'd like to take a look at how Kayn plays now too. Advanced Com Systems might make a solid difference.

Lots of good stuff in this pack. Good stats on inquisitor. Great command cards. That attachment will make me buy a sorin figure just to try it out. Perhaps most interesting is that item that's included. They haven't told us anything about it. Is it a reward? Or something that gets shuffled into the item deck to be purchased (I hope the later as it gives us another high level melee option).

My thought exactly. Unless the rules in his figure pack specifically state a time period or campaign that he is limited to, then he will be able to be dropped in all campaigns, but only to kill a specific hero. Very odd.

I want to play Sorin so badly now! He could use his Command Card to tell 3 droids in his general area to fire! And they can stun like mad men! Oooh baby, Imperial leaders are really exciting for me now.

The Inquisitor excites me just as much as he always has, which is to say, a lot.

It actually doesn't work with his command card. The text reads "Abilities on your deployment card" which means it does not apply to any outside effects such as command cards or other skirmish upgrades.

So basically there is no question now that a Rebels box is coming. Why else would it mention initial and reserved? He isn't in any campaign books I've seen!

Also, interesting that it is side mission only. ALSO interesting, there is no pic of the agenda mission. Why not? Are they trying to keep the time period secret from us before they make the big announcement? :D The big shot has it as blank but that can easily be photo shopped or hide it, or just not even printed yet.

ALSO ALSO Interesting, this agenda mission takes place on Ithor, a planet first mentioned in... Star Wars Rebels book called Head to Head. Another interesting link, the Rebels buddy Jho (the bartender) left Ithor to settle on Lothal. It is all linked!!

So... What happens if the inquisitor is killed before the targeted hero? Is that it and you failed the task, discard the inquisitor, or does his card go into reserve like other defeated cards?

I would have expected the former, but if that were the case I also would have expected it to be phrased "When that hero or the grand inquisitor are defeated..."

I have to imagine we're going to get a "reasonably" costed Vader, Chewie, and Han, right? Because this guy is pretty rad, but I'd like to see the OT heroes actually be able to show up both in skirmish and in the campaign.

I don't see why he wouldn't follow the normal ally rules...

Love it, but I'm wondering about a few things:

1) It appears the Targeted by the Empire card could be used in any campaign, which messes up timeline because TGI is dead. Am I wrong on that?

2) Great figure for skirmish too. Han, Vader, and IG-88 (maybe Chewie, RGC, and Fett) need cost reductions or major buffs to help them. In X-Wing, look at what they just did with the TIE Defender (wave 4 of 8). They have NOT scrapped the old TIE Defender pilots or the basic framework of the old card's states. Instead, they have released title upgrades that fix the Defender specifically. I really, really hope this is what they do with these guys. I'm still annoyed that I had to buy new cards for Royal Guards through eBay (and I will for the Sabs too) and I hope I don't have to do that again with these guys.

3) The whole toss the lightsaber and cleave thing. Is there a listed rule for that somewhere? Because referring back to an article for a rule is lame.

It comes from a strict reading of the rules regarding cleave. Cleave states that you apply the damage to "another figure you could hit with your attack". It's always been there and has come into play in campaign a few times now.

So... What happens if the inquisitor is killed before the targeted hero?

The same thing that happens to any unique villain. They can not be redeployed in the same mission by any means. (See Allies from the RRG.)

(Only non-unique deployment cards return to the IP's hand.)

On Targeted by the Empire: Assuming his last agenda card is indeed a side mission that allows him to be earned as a villain then the time period on that will apply to the entire set. (RRG 4).

Ranged cleave has always been possible for either Diala or Gaarkhan. It can hit any target within the accuracy of the attack (I really hope they include this ruling in his pack since its not in line with the RRG which uses the word target which would allow you to cleave anything you can see) (The ruling is quoted in the FAQ thread somewhere).

I really wanted to see what the staff actually did :(

I think the staff is surge for +2, and you can choose between reach and cleave. So not bad.
