[Form VII] [Attacker]!

By Absol197, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Good time zone, folks!

Just had something I was wondering about: it's a common assumption around here that we will, eventually, get a spec for Form VII, i.e. Juyo/Vaapad, most likely in the Warrior source book. I was wondering what people think the name of said spec will be.

So far we have the:

Shii-Cho "Knight"

Makashi "Duelist"

Soresu "Defender"

Ataru "Striker"

Shien "Expert"

Niman "Disciple"

Form VII is a rather aggressive form, but "Aggressor" is already taken as a spec name. So, what will a practitioner of Juyo be called? A "Berserker?" A "Ravager?" Perhaps a "Reaver?"

What do you think? And maybe the more important question: do you care?

Raider or Fighter.

Fighter seems way too generic, but I like Raider! Apparently my Brain is stuck on "R" words today...

I like Reaver ...... though I'm biased since the Legacy of Kain series is hands down one of my all time favorite franchises.

"Reaver" aggravates auto-correct.

Juyo Reaver sounds cool. Juyo Marauder would have worked, but Marauder is elsewhere. Vaapad or Juyo Berserker? thats my pick

a talent called Vaapad Attack... maybe not

Juyo Elite?

Wait guys, I got it:

Juyo Meanie-Head! You heard it here first :P !

But slightly more seriously, while I forget the name of the dual-saber style, I'm thinking it's likely to show up in the Consular book. What would you predict it would be called? We can discuss both, right?

Juyo Battlemaster

"Battlemaster" is nice! Another one I just thought of could be "Mauler." The nod to Darth Maul, chronologically the first person we see using the style, makes it all the better!

Okay, seriously, just because jarkai is spawned from niman doesn't mean it should be in the consular book. Part of the reason consulars use niman is it's a one handed style so it frees them to use the force with the other hand. This doesn't work with jarkai (sorry, I have bizarrely strong feelings on this issue).

I think battlemaster is the best name proposed thus far followed by reaver. Then again I still think it would work better as a signature ability.

Whilst i think this being a Sig Ability could work it just doesn't seem to represent the always there ability of it. A Universal Dark Side tree on the other hand would be a very interesting way to achieve it. This forces anyone wanting to use the technique to be more than a starting character.

I think they could do some very interesting things with Talents in a Juyo tree. Attacks that require Dark Side force pips to activate. Saber swarm would undoubtedly make a reappearance. A counter attack that triggers off an opponent using the Dark Side or that the opponent using the dark side on you adds Success or Advantage to your next attack

I just can't picture a fighting form (either Juyo, Vapaad, or Jarkari) being a signature ability. It's too limiting and I'm not sure it would fit. I do honestly hope for Juyo though as I would love a lightsabre form with a Conflict talent. I picture Vapaad being snuck in as the Conflict talent.

re: Jar'Kai: Adept, Fencer, Swordsman, Blader, Saber*.

*Throw Juyo Saber out there as well.

I have a feeling that a fair few of the Talents that appear under the EoTE Marauder spec tree will find their way into the Form VII Spec.

I would like to see an equivalent of 'Force Assault' that allows a free Brawl attack on a missed lightsaber attack check with enough Advantages, I mean Maul just loved to lash out with his feet during the TPM fight. Does this already exist as a Talent? AFB at the moment and cannot check...

Well, Maul's usage of unarmed strikes during a 'saber battle could be viewed as the result of a Lightsaber combat check that did very little damage once his target used Parry to absorb most of the damage, as well as making use of threats and despairs that his opponents rolled to push them back and/or knock them prone.

In fact, we see Qui-Gon do something similar during the Battle of Theed, where he backhands Maul hard enough to knock the Sith Lord off the catwalk they were fighting on and fall prone some distance below.

Legacy of Kain is great. :)

Dual saber is Niman style, isn't it? And that's listed in the Consular so, yeah!

By dual-saber I meant Jar'Kai.

Which, despite the reservations of some in the thread, I still think will be a Consular spec, if it ends up getting a spec at all.

I think a lot of he maurauder talents will stay in maurauder because of how they stack, frenzied attack yes, feral strength no. Maurauder has the one and only unconditional damage increase in the game, other talents are reliant on destiny points for example

Well, Commando has Feral Strength, too, but yes, I doubt it would make an appearance in the Juyo Mauler.

Frenzied Attack? No better place for it, in my opinion!

I should have also pointed out that the maurauder talents do not work with lightsaber, they only work with melee and brawl.

Very good point. Dern, Frenzied Attack would have been great...

Fit well with a Weapon Master spec. I designed one of those. Toned down the number of both Feral Strength and Frenzied Attack as compared to Marauder, though.

Ataru, Juyo and Vapaad are all hand to hand combat styles and Lightsaber techniques.
